Jimmy Shand CD ‘Jimmy’s Fancy’, Scotland – UKby Rob Howard |
One of Jimmy Shand’s earliest LPs, recorded in 1961, ‘Jimmy’s Fancy’, features a selection of Scottish dance music in the distinctive Shand style. With excellent tempo and swing, the album was recorded in a live dance setting with the dancers of the Royal Scottish Dance Society. The enthusiasm with which the band plays and the audible responses of the dancers to the music creates a very lively atmosphere which makes for highly enjoyable listening. Available from the Music in Scotland website. Tracks: The White Cockade, Jimmy’s Fancy, The Express, La Tempete, Jessie’s Hornpipe, The Bluebell Polka, The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Donald Bane, Waverley For further information email: jiml@musicinscotland.com |
