 Le CIA a le plaisir d’annoncer le "World Accordion Orchestra V", qui jouera durant la 64ème Coupe Mondiale à Shanghai. Nous vous souhaitons la bienvenue à cet évènement international et vous encourageons à participer à ce 5ème World Accordion Orchestra (WAO V)!Le WAO V jouera durant la cérémonie de clôture de la 64 Coupe Mondiale sur la scène Shanghai Star Stage, au Theater of the Shanghai Mass Art Center (image ci-dessous). Il y aura, parmi les membres du WAO, des musiciens provenant de nombreux pays différents, y compris le président Raymond Bodell (Concert Master) et d’autres officiels et délégués de la Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes. L’inscription pour le WAO V est maintenant possible en ligne. Les amateurs d’accordéon du monde entier sont invités à rejoindre le World Accordion Orchestra V et à participer à un évènement regroupant plaisir et haute qualité musical. Inscrivez-vous maintenant, car la participation est limitée.  Les comptes-rendus quotidiens du festival Strumenti & Musicam 2011 sont en ligne.Le festival a débuté le 21 août à Spoleto. De 10 h du matin à minuit, les trois places et rues principales étaient animées. Dans chaque rue, coin et place de Spoleto, il y avait des groupes qui jouaient. Le directeur artistique Micro Patarini a annoncé que les deux meilleurs concurrents italiens seraient sponsorisés par IAC (Italian Accordion Culture, membre italien de la CIA) pour le voyage et l’hôtel lors de la Coupe Mondale 2011 à Shanghai.  Kimmo Pohjonen et K Cube, avec Kimmo Pohjonen, Sami Kuoppamäki (percussion) et Timo Kämäräinen (guitare) et le Proton String Quartet joueront lors du Turku European Cultural Capital 2011 au stade Paavo NurmEcrit et dirigé par Kari Heiskanen, Taistelu / Battle est un spectacle de stade qui combine une histoire dramatique avec des effets de scène et musicaux. Les interprètes et l’équipe artistique comprennent le compositeur Kimmo Pohjonen avec les musiciens cités ci-dessus, ainsi qu’un chœur d’homme de 60 voix, tout cela coordonné par le chorégraphe et directeur assistant Ari Numminen, et le designer visuel IIkka Paloniemi. Le spectacle combine du théâtre, de la danse et des acteurs, avec Sami Saikkonen et Karoliina Blackburn.  Depuis le mois passé, Frédéric Deschamps diffuse ses masterclasses en direct sur http://www.accordions.com/deschamps à l’intention des internautes du monde entier. Le channel de Frédéric Deschamps est rapidement devenu populaire, et a attiré des interessés du monde entier (Canada, Chine, USA, Chili, Mexique, Brésil, Scandinavie, Lithuanie, etc), qui ont déjà regardé au total 87000 minutes de vidéo durant le dernier mois ! Les internautes peuvent regarder le masterclass, mais également participer par l’intermédiaire du Chat. Ils peuvent poser des questions, commenter le cours, ou converser avec d’autres spectateurs. Les séminaires comprennent des étudiants de tous niveaux, allant des débutants aux compétiteurs internationaux.  Marina Kazakov, wife of pioneering accordionist Yuri Kazakov passed away on 5th July. She was born 1914 and travelled with Yuri on many of his concert tours. In her work life, Marina was a Doctor of Medicine, specialising in children. Yuri Kazakov describes Marina as a best friend and love of his life and “the sun” which gave him inspiration, energy, stimulation and life. Our thoughts are with Yuri at this sad time. |

 Prominent New Zealand accordionist and teacher Stephanie Poole who has taught many New Zealand Accordion Champions in recent years, was performing at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Parnell on 14 August with the Bach Musica NZ musicians. Founded in 1977, Bach Musica is a choir and orchestra specialising in music of the Baroque and Classical periods. Now widely recognized as one of New Zealand's premier Baroque ensembles, this concert featuring accordionist Stephanie Poole who according to the major NZ newspaper music critic William Dart. “offered some neatly played Piazzolla”. This concert was part of a six concert series in 2011 at the Holy Trinity Cathedral, Parnell, Auckland. Stephanie is pictured above with the Auckland Symphony Orchestra performing at the 2009 Coupe Mondiale event. |

| Phil Cunnigham (accordion) and Aly Bain (violin) packed Tait Hall on the 25th August for the duo's 25th Anniversary Tour. Phil and Aly return to the Borders region each year and the date is a popular one with both, who have been coming to the Borders on an annual basis for several years now. |

| Legendary Vallenato singer, composer, and musician Lorenzo Morales has died at the age of 97 early Friday morning, 26th August. Morales, known as “Moralito,” died in hospital surrounded by his wife and 37 children in the early hours of Friday morning. Having first achieved recognition for his accordion playing at the age of 17, Morales would go on to become famous for such songs as “La Gota Fria,” “El Errante,” “La Primavera,” and “La Carta y La Mala Situacion.” |

| The 12th Annual Las Vegas Accordion Convention will be held from October 31st to November 3rd. This year's event opens with a Masquerade Party on Halloween, October, 31st. Returning again will be the Las Vegas International Accordion Orchestra under the esteemed direction of Joan Cochran Sommers who received the AAA 2011 Lifetime Achievement Award in July at the AAA Festival in Charleston. You are welcome to join the orchestra which will perform in the grand finale. There will be rehearsals every day. Music is available as of September 7th. Email for further instructions. The Las Vegas Accordion Convention features Frank Marocco, Alexander Sevastian, Mario Tacca and Mary Mancini, Mary Tokarski, and Angelo Di Pippo with the Accordion Kings. Other featured artists include: Peter and Mady Soave, The Soundscape Trio, Bruce Gassman, Gina Brannelli, Gordon Kohl, and Pete Barbutti. There are many benefits to attending the convention. You will make new friends from all over the world. You will see the latest in new accordions with factory exhibits. Hotel accommodations are very inexpensive. You will be inspired by hearing the finest accordionists and you will learn so much from them. Seven meals, seven concerts, all special events and classes are included.  The 61st Trophée Mondial organised by the Confédération Mondiale de l'Accordéon (CMA) is being held from 13th to 18th September in Pineto, Italy. For the first time, the CMA Trophée Mondial now includes two new categories for diatonic accordion.Junior Variety - Diatonic. (Maximum Age 18 years) 1 Round: Own Choice Program with maximum time limit of 8 mins to include at least two pieces of different style and character. The pieces chosen should be mainly original works for Diatonic accordion. Senior Variety - Diatonic. (Maximum Age 35 years) 1st Round: Own Choice Program with maximum time limit of 9 mins. 2nd Round:Own Choice Program with maximum time limit of 9 mins. Music performed in the second round must be different from those performed in the first round. The pieces chosen should be mainly original works for Diatonic accordion. Other categories included in the CMA Trophée Mondial are: Senior Classical, Junior Classical, National Trophy, Junior Variety, Senior Variety. All the rules, information about hotels, how to travel to Pineto are on the newly updated CMA Website. CMA President Frédéric Deschamps (picture right) wrote that: "The new diatonic categories are an exciting addition to the 2011 Trophée Mondial International Competition and I am looking forward very much to this new category."
