Coupe Mondiale 2011 à Shanghai fait un record d’inscriptions- Chineby Harley Jones |
Le délai d’inscription pour la Coupe Mondiale 2011 à Shanghai est échu. Il y a eu 170 inscriptions, ce qui dépasse de 50 le plus haut nombre d’inscription jusqu’à aujourd’hui. 50 candidats, représentant leur pays, ont obtenu un subside pour l’hébergement et la nourriture, généreusement offert par nos hôtes chinois, l’Association des Musiciens Chinois (CAA) et l’Association des Musiciens de Shanghai. Quand la Coupe Mondiale a débuté en 1938, il n’y avait qu’une seule catégorie (Coupe Mondiale), dans laquelle il y avait en moyenne 17 à 20 représentants nationaux dès 1970. La catégorie Variété a été mise à l’essai en 1974, et c’est depuis 1989 que cette catégorie a lieu annuellement. La catégorie Coupe Mondiale Junior a été ajoutée en 1996, la catégorie Variété Junior en 2000, la catégorie Accordéon Piano en 2001, la catégorie Musique de Chambre en 2002 et la catégorie Accordéon électronique en 2009. Ce permet à la Coupe Mondiale de présenter tous les styles de musiques qui peuvent être joués à l’accordéon. Félicitations aux associations chinoises dirigées par le président de la CAA Prof. Li Cong (image de droite) pour avoir atteint plus de 170 inscriptions. La Coupe Mondiale 2011 promet d’être un évènement exceptionnel ! |

La liste des artistes invités en concert pour le 36ème festival international d’accordéon, qui aura du 20 au 25 septembre à Castelfidardo, Ancone, a été rendue publique: Frank Marocco (USA), Pino di Modugno, Veronika Todorova (Bulgarie), Stian Carstensen, Vincente Abbracciante, Daniele di Bonaventura, Miranda Cortes (France), Andrea Tini, Luca Colantonio, Tommaso Arena, Christian Riganelli, Emiliano Giaccaglia, Danilo Paolonicola’s Ethic Project, the Fisa & Bass Duo, Banda Adriatica, l’accordéoniste diatonique Claudio Prima, Duo Calambre, the Donato Santoianni and Salvatore Cauteruccio Quartet, Marianna Malonni (voixx) and Mirko Dettori (accordéon et voix), ‘Two Half Dogs’ duo, accordioists Paolo Polverini et Silvano Staffolani, and le duo Alessandro and Gabriel. IV Strumenti & Musica Festival Daily Reports, Spoleto - Italieby Harley Jones |
Daily Reports of the 2011 Strumenti & Musica Festival are online. Les comptes-rendus quotidiens du festival Strumenti & Musica 2011 sont en ligne. Le 4ème festival Strumenti & Musica a commencé le 21 août à Spoleto. De 10h à minuit, les trois principales places et rues accueillaient de nombreux évènements. Dans chaque rue, il y avait des groupes qui se produisaient. Les deux bourses d’études ont été attribuées à Pietro Adragna (vainqueur de la Catégorie Senior variété, photo ci-dessus à droite) et à Matteo Petronio (Vainqueur de la catégorie Junior variété, photo en haut à gauche) par la IAC (Association italienne de la Culture, membre italienne de la CIA) pour soutenir la participation des deux musiciens à la Coupe Mondiale 2011. Ivan Sverko (Croatie, photo de droite) a gagné la catégorie Senior classique, suivi de près par Alexander Kolovski (Macedoine), Mia Cojbasic (Serbie) et Ghenadie Rotari (Moldavie). Les résultats complets sont donnés dans les comptes-rendus quotidiens. Un des temps fort du festival Strumenti & Musica était le grand concert de tango « Hommage à Astor Piazzolla », donné par le groupe Cuarteto del Angel, dirigé par Cesare Chiacchiaretta (bandonéon et accordéon) avec Paolo Angelucci (violon), Marco Colacioppo (piano) and Nicola Di Camillo (double basse). Lors de ce concert, Cesare Chiacchiaretta a reçu le prix « Astor Piazzolla », offert par Strumenti & Musica, et Aldo Pagani,éditeur italien et ami d’Astor Piazzolla. Finale nationale de Roland V-Accordion, Ontario -Canadaby Harley Jones |
Les finales nationales Roland auront lieu à la Hansa Haus à Mississauga, Ontario, le 8 septembre 2011 à 19h00. Lors de cette manifestation, il y a aura les prestations de chaque demi-finaliste, ainsi que d’autres prestations. L’entrée est gratuite pour la soirée musicale familiale ainsi que pour le concours. Roland Canada annonce que les trois demi-finaliste pour le Canada sont : - Michael Bridge de Toronto, Ontario - Eugene Laskiewicz de Mississauga, Ontario - Kimberley Pritchard de Brooklin, Ontario Le vainqueur de la catégorie jeune est Yi Fei Zhang, 17 ans (photo de droite) de Edmonton, Alberta. Il a gagné un accordéon Roland-V FR-3x et il jouera au festival national Roland V en tant qu’interprète invité. Sebastian Carubia (photo à gauche) de produira également. Sebastian Carubia a pour objectif d’amener l’accordéon à un autre niveau de divertissement. La performance vidéo de Sebastian Carubia, « Stereo Love », enregistrée par CP Records a suscité un grand intérêt chez un public de tout âge, associant l’accordéon à une scène de discothèque. Actuellement, Sebastian travaille à Toronto avec le producteur et musicien Jerry Caringi pour créer des titres de danses originaux qui sortiront à l’automne. Les résultats du concours seront mis en ligne le 9 septembre. |

Viatcheslav Semionov Master Classes - Russia, Italyby Alexander Selivanov |
Famous teacher, performer and composer Viatcheslav Semionov has had a very busy summer with master classes. There was an international summer school in Zheleznogorsk (Kursk region) followed by a trip to Italy in August for master classes in Rome and these master classes were followed by a trip to Calabria for further master classes in the southern part of Italy. Lessons followed in Nocera, Terinese including a meeting with the Deputy Mayor to discuss development of the music school and the prospects of further cooperation. All the master classes were all very well attended and very successful. There is a definite upward trend in Italy with some 31 conservatories now offering accordion and the number of accordionists studying at Italian conservatories steadily increasing. 6 CD,s by Viatcheslav Semionov available online |
Bands Competition Including Accordion, Portadown - Northern Irelandby Harley Jones |
A total of 65 bands visited the town of Portadown, (about 40km from Belfast) on Friday August 26th as Portadown Defenders Flute Band held their annual band parade and competition. Local band Edgarstown Accordion picked up Best Accordion, with Pride of the Birches Accordion coming a close second. Almost 2,000 band enthusiasts took part as Portadown Defenders Flute Band celebrated their 40th anniversary. Bands from right across Ulster and Scotland made the journey which saw Drumderg Loyalists Flute Band, Keady collect the Best Overall Band trophy. The competition was as tight as ever as Drumderg Loyalists picked up three first place prizes in best Junior Drum Major, best Large Blood and Thunder and Best Overall. Kilkeel band Mourne Young Defenders Flute Band scored favourably too as they won best Melody Drum Corp and best Melody band prizes. The night ended as the Defenders’ and their Auld Boys band joined together to parade the town. The band will conclude their anniversary celebrations with a dinner for present and ex-members in October. |

Paul Chamberlain has released his first CD of classical accordion music today! The CD is available to order online or from Itunes, Amazon, Napster. The tracks include: JS Bach – ‘Prelude and Fugue in D Minor’, J. Rameau – ‘L’Egyptienne’, A. Nagayev – ‘Sonata No 1’ (three movements), F. Angelis – ‘Romance’, A. Khachaturian – ‘Toccata’, and M. Moszkowski – ‘Spanish Caprice’. Paul Chamberlain graduated with a First Class Honours Degree in Classical Accordion from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in 2011. He has won many regional and national accordion competitions in the UK and has made appearances at accordion events in France, Italy, Finland, Bahrain, and Russia. ‘14 Years Ago’ – Betty Jo Simon takes the MIDI to the Lone Star Stateby Rob Howard |
The Accordions Worldwide news for August 29th 1997 included a report by the still very active Betty Jo Simon, telling of her tour of Texas, entertaining whilst also demonstrating on MIDI accordion – then still a comparative novelty. TEXAS ACCORDION TOUR Contributed by Betty Jo Simon Betty Jo Simon's Texas accordion tour saw her playing to six clubs in Dallas, Ft. Worth, Longview, Austin, San Antonio, & Houston along with German & Czech restaurants in between. The theme of the program was ‘Around the World with the MIDI Accordion’. Betty Jo said, "I played a lot of international tunes along with some classical numbers like ‘Bolero’, ‘Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2’, and ‘Dance of the Comedians’. I also did a demonstration of the MIDI accordion so people could understand where I was getting all those sampled sounds. Everyone was amazed at the full orchestral sound that it emitted”. Betty Jo Simon also did a 30 minute radio interview with John Aeili in Austin. He was also amazed at the MIDI Accordion. The Longview newspaper did a feature on the Accordion club there and put a 10 inch color picture of Betty Jo on the front page of their Lifestyles section. 3 CD's by Betty Jo Simon available online. |

Mary Tokarski Featured Soloist with Hamden Symphonyby Rita Davidson Barnea |
Concert accordionist, Mary Tokarski will be the featured soloist with the Hamden Symphony Orchestra, 3 pm, November 6, 2011 at the Hamden High School Auditorium, 2040 Dixwell Avenue, Hamden, Connecticut with Vesna Mehinovic, Conducting. Mary will perform “Rhapsody for Accordion and Orchestra” by Gary Daverne, O.N.Z.M. from New Zealand. Mary has recorded and performed this magnificent, lyrical music score several times with the composer conducting both the Auckland Symphony and the Moravian Symphony in the Czech Republic. Gary is New Zealand’s most prolific and successful composers who has become a great supporter and composer of music for the accordion. His arrangements and compositions for accordion orchestras and solo accordion are used extensively around the world. On Friday September 9th, 8pm, diatonic folk accordionist and singer John Kirkpatrick is the guest at The Potteries Folk Club, The 45 Club, Lancaster Road, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire ST5 1DS. John Kirkpatrick is widely acknowledged as the British folk scene’s best and busiest button accordionist, constantly in demand at folk clubs and festivals as a performer and workshop leader, and also in the theatre and recording studios as a session musician. He has appeared on more than 60 recordings by other artistes, and has released many CDs of his own, plus a tuition DVD for melodeon. John K plays the 3-row British chromatic button accordion, 1 and 2 row melodeons, and the Anglo concertina. He is also a fine singer and composer. |
