‘Amigos’ Concerts, Wales – UKby Rob Howard |
The Welsh-based jazz/world music band ‘Amigos’ play a mixture of Gypsy Jazz, Traditional Gypsy, Hot Club Jazz, Hungarian, Yiddish, Russian, French musette, Latin, Spanish, Tex-Mex, Cuban, Samba, Rumba, Calypso and Celtic. The band has to date recorded 8 CDs, the most recent being ‘Tula’, released in 2008. Founded in 1992 by guitarists Gary Phillips and Andy King, the line-up also includes Nigel Hopkins - accordion, Bethan Frieze - violin, and Andy Coughlan - double bass. Nigel Hopkins also works as Musical Director for the singer Chris de Burgh.
