 The 2023 Northern Ireland Open Accordion Championships were held at the Hilton Hotel Conference Centre, in Templepatrick, Co. Antrim on February 18th, 2023, organised by Clyde Johnston (picture left).The event featured a final concert which included an opening performance by the Royal Meath Accordion Orchestra (picture above). Members of this orchestra were awarded the top three prizes in the overall category for best performances: Michael Leavey, Laura Masterson and the RMAO Senior Ensemble. This popular competition had over 180 entries from “England, Scotland, Germany, the Republic of Ireland as well as a strong local contingent.” Competition classes were held for soloists, duos, groups, orchestras and marching bands for a variety of age groups. The adjudicators were Audrey Gillian, Philip Hammond and Sarah McEvoy. Download results here: 2023NIACResults.pdf |
