Jazz Accordion FestivalThe 2024 Jazz Accordion Festival will be held in Castelfidardo and Osimo, Italy from March 15th to 17th, 2024. Free admission.

The opening event will take place on March 15th at 10pm at the On Stage Club in Castelfidardo with a concert based on improvisation starring Jovan Pavlovic.

“A musician who is difficult to classify but adheres to our language: of Serbian origin, Jovan now lives in Oslo and is merging the tradition of his already very dense, polyrhythmic and complex land with the more modern and refined research typical of the Nordic countries. A synthesis between Balkan culture and Scandinavian experience translated in an original way with the free bass technique", explains the artistic director Simone Zanchini. Pavlovic draws on a unique and pioneering artistic expression of the accordion through an unusual combination of elements of jazz, folk, classical and traditional music. Jovan will take the viewer on an evocative journey through world music with his creative approach felt in the rhythm, harmonies and improvisational lyricism. Free admission.

Followed by a jam session open to all jazz lovers

On March 16th at 10pm, Marius Preda (Romania) will perform at the On Stage Club in Castelfidardo accompanied by the JAF rhythm section composed of Daniele Marconi (double bass), Zeno le Moglie (drums) and Thomas Lasca (guitar).

One of the most skilled and well-known cimbalonist and multi-instrumentalist in the world, Marius Preda is an interpreter of the most traditional jazz in the American main stream sense: “an extraordinary talent, among the most crystalline encountered in my career”, explains the artistic director Simone Zanchini. “He plays divinely accordion, piano, vibraphone and violin and the fact that he does not have an exclusive accordion background makes his language even more jazzy. An exceptional opportunity to get to know and appreciate him."

Marius Preda is considered one of the most original, prolific and influential musicians in the history of recent music. Born in Bucharest in 1977 to a family of musicians, as well as having a recognized talent on the cimbalon, Preda dedicated himself to the study of the jazz accordion and vibraphone at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, earning the nickname "The Tiger of the Conservatory" in homage to his virtuosic and energetic musical abilities.

Thanks to his unique and charismatic way of playing, Preda became the first cimbalom player in history to have performed in the most important and prestigious festivals and jazz clubs in the world.

Free entry: jam session open to all to follow

The JAF closing concert with Stafano & Iorio will be held at the La Fenice Theater in Osimo on March 17th at 6pm, thanks to the collaboration with the Municipality of Osimo.

The stylish and proven duo Gianni Iorio & Pasquale Stafano offers a concert suitable for a large audience in which the bandoneon is the protagonist, a bellows instrument close to the accordion.

Gianni Iorio is an accordionist who has specialized in the bandoneon in recent years, becoming one of its most authoritative interpreters, carries out a very personal research through his compositions using a very articulated language that goes well beyond 'just' tango, accompanied from the creativity of a leading arranger and pianist like Pasquale Stafano.

Pianist, composer and arranger Pasquale Stafano has recorded five albums as a leader for important record labels such as Philology, Jazzhaus Records, Enja Records, Sony Classical.

He is the creator and artistic director of the "Stornarella International Music Festival" which is held in summer in Stornarella, in the province of Foggia and his composition Milonguita was arranged and included in the album Hora cero of the famous ensemble Die 12 Cellisten der Berliner Philarmoniker.

Gianni Iorio, born in 1972, is the protagonist of a brilliant concert activity as a pianist and bandoneonist. He has recorded for the Real Sound, Philology, Dodici Lune, Jazzhaus, Universal, Rai Trade, Enja Records and Act labels and has played in the most prestigious theaters in the world with the “Oscar-winning” musician Luis Bacalov, who says of the duo: “Gianni he plays with a professionalism and rigor that make him one of the best bandoneon performers I've ever heard. I really appreciate Pasquale for his authority and for the captivating sound that he is capable of creating. The artistic result of this duo deserves the attention of all music lovers."
