März in der Gnesins RAM Concert Hall in Moskau gefeiert. Die Abteilung der Bajan und das Akkordeon der Gnunes RAM gründeten die Veranstaltung zusammen mit dem Projektleiter Friedrich Lips. Die Veranstaltung ist auch der Beitrag Russlands zum Weltakkordeon-Tag (6. Mai). |

Der russische Akkordeonist Sergey Osokin, internationaler Preisträger, Lehrer am Moskauer Staatlichen Musikinstitut von Schnittke, tourte vom 5. bis 12. März in Österreich und trat in Wien, Nieder- und Oberösterreich, der Steiermark und Kärnten auf. Sein populäres Programm beinhaltete S. Gainsbourg, C. Thomain, H. Betti, J. Gart, V. Young, M. Ferrero, Whiteman, Mecano, R. Galliano, AV Damme, JF Baez, J. Richard, K. Weill, A. Astier und seine eigenen Kompositionen. Walter Schildberger hatte die Ehre, Sergey Osokin am 8. März bei einem Konzert für den Internationalen Frauentag in der Kulturhalle des Gemeinschaftsmarktes von Lavamünd zu beherbergen. Was planen Sie zum Weltakkordeontag? - Internationalby Harley Jones |
Was planen Sie für den Weltakkordeon-Tag, um das Akkordeon in Ihrem Land zu fördern? Der Weltakkordeon-Tag ist am 6. Mai, dem Tag, an dem das Akkordeon 1829 patentiert wurde. Der Weltakkordeon-Tag wurde 2009 von der CIA ins Leben gerufen und bisher sehr erfolgreich, was für das Akkordeon viel positive Resonanz brachte. Ein wichtiger Teil dieser Veranstaltung ist die Website des World Accordion Day. Jeder Verein, jede Gruppe, jedes Orchester, Performer und Lehrer wird gebeten, diese Veranstaltung aktiv zu unterstützen, indem er nationale und lokale Akkordeonaktivitäten an diesem Tag oder am Wochenende, vor oder nach demAkkordeon-Tages, falls dies besser in ein Programm passen sollte. Jeder kann seine Aktivitäten zum Weltakkordeon-Tag auf der Website registrieren und danach einen Bericht über seine Veranstaltung verfassen. Keine Veranstaltung ist zu groß oder zu klein. ALLE Akkordeonveranstaltungen zum Weltakkordeontag sind herzlich willkommen. Dies ist eine CIA-Promotion für das Akkordeon, an der jeder Akkordeonliebhaber teilnehmen und helfen kann, unsere Akkordeonwelt zusammenzubringen und das Akkordeon entsprechend zu fördern. |
V. Internationale Akkordeon Tage in Prag - Tschechische Republikby Harley Jones |
Das 5. Festival der Internationalen Akkordeontage in Prag findet vom 31. Oktober bis 3. November 2019 statt. Der künstlerische Leiter ist Ladislav Horák (Bild rechts) am Konservatorium in Prag, Akkordeonabteilung. Internationale Jury: Mirco Patarini, Jörgen Sundeqvist, Stefan Hippe, László Ernyei, Jirí Teml, Ladislav Horák, Josef Hrebik, Marcela Kysová-Halmová und andere. Orquestra Basarab Entertains in Barcelona – Spainby Christine Johnstone |
On March 15th, the Orquestra Basarab entertained at the Sinestesia Bar Musical in Barcelona, Spain. The group was founded by accordionist Anatol Eremciuc who was born in Moldavia and studied accordion in the Alcue Russo University in Balti. He now lives in Barcelona, where he has grown musically, sharing his knowledge with other musicians from different cultures and backgrounds, such as Forro, tango, habenaras, klezmer and the traditions of the Balkans. |
New CD “Mirror Suite”by Christine Johnstone |
A new CD by the Penny Sanborn Trio entitled "Mirror Suite" has just been released. The trio features Penny Sanborn (accordion), Jamie Philp (guitar) and Rubim de Toledo (bass). The 11-track album is a collection of French, Italian and Tango music, including familiar and original pieces such as “Passion”, El Choclo, Oblivion, O Sole Mio to name a few. Canadian accordionist Penny Sanborn has performed with Luciano Pavarotti, Renée Fleming, and the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra. The CD is available on iTunes and Spotify and also as a physical CD. Four Masterclasses will be held at the 23rd International Week of the Accordion "Alcobaça 2019", in the large and small auditoriums of Cine Teatro de Alcobaça on May 23rd and 24th organised by Diana Freire (Competition Manager) and Aníbal Freire, President of the Portugal Accordion Association. The Portugal Accordion Association has invited 4 well known teachers - Franck Angelis, Christine Rossi and Renzo Ruggieri - and for the third time in the International Week of the Accordion, they will have two 90 minute sessions of Yoga for Musicians, directed by Diana Freire. The masterclasses are available to students and teachers of accordion, regardless of the (classical or ligeira) style that he/she studies or teaches. Each active participant will be entitled to a 50-minute work session (individualized lesson) with Franck Angelis, Christine Rossi and Renzo Ruggieri in different auditoriums. The 23rd International Week of Accordion will include a variety of concerts (18th, 19th, 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 25th and 26th May) and the 24th National Trophy & 5th International Accordion Competition (25th and 26th May). "Women Composing in the Balkans" Festival are Finalists in 2019 Innovation Awardby Rob Howard |
During 2018 the “Women Composing in the Balkans Festival” was held for the first time from September 27th to 29th for women composers from Greece, Bulgaria and Romania, with the aim to include more Balkan countries in the future. The aim of the project is to encourage young female composers to introduce their work abroad, rehearse with new musicians and develop a network among the young generation of composers in the Balkan area. The idea was developed by the Cultural Management Academy 2017 Bucharest, Sofia, Thessaloniki and funded by the Goethe Institut. The selection of pieces has been in collaboration with La.Re.Co.M-DMSA of the University of Macedonia and the non-profit organization "Beartive". Classical participants “Mehexis Ensemble” (which features accordionist Artemis Vavatsika - picture right) are candidates for the Innovation Award 2019. The ensemble is one of only 10 finalists from 37 participants from 26 countries around Europe, Asia and America. The results will be announced at the Classical NEXT award ceremony in Rotterdam, Holland from May 15th to 18th. The vote will be open to the public of Classical NEXT from March 5th to 29th. The Akkordeon-Orchester Wesseling invites participants to its 19th and final concert workshop series "Gemeinsam musizieren mit der Quetsch" (Playing together with the Squeeze) on April 4th at Mühlenweg 43, Aula Gartenstraße in Wesseling. The event enables accordion students, parents, siblings and friends to interact with others in the Orchestra! Concert "Beyond the Sound" in St Petersburg - Russiaby Arseniy Strokovskiy |
The Elena Obrazova Cultural Center, Nevsky Prospekt, D. 65, 3rd Floor, art. Metro "Mayakovskaya" in St Petersburg will host an accordion concert entitled "Beyond the Sound" on April 7th at 7pm. The concert will open with a performance by Alexi Mirkovich, a young, talented Bayan songwriter & composer from Serbia and the winner of more than 30 international contests. He will perform his own compositions and a variety of music from differing composers. In 2017, Alex won 1st place at the prestigious international competition “World trophy” held in France. Alex took out the “Composition” class for his composition and performance of “White Book”. This will be followed by the premiere of a new composition of Petri Makkonen entitled “Memory of Love” written for the trio “Charm”. Works by Mozart, Mussorgsky, Shalaev and others will also be performed. Tickets are available in St. Petersburg theatre ticket offices. Please see poster above for further concert information. |
Santa Maria Accordion Band Performance & Celebrations – Maltaby Rob Howard |
The Santa Maria Accordion Band will perform a concert at Guardamangia, Tal-Pieta on April 23rd organised by Philip Aguis in collaboration with the Santa Maria Band. This concert is to celebrate World Accordion Day and also to celebrate the band's 25th anniversary. The band was formed by band director and conductor Mrs. Marthese Busuttil Cassar and they play a variety of Classical, Folk, Spanish, Maltese, English, Italian and Polka music. At this event they will entertain with Italian Suite, O sole Mio, Come back to Sorrento, Santa Lucia, Funiculi funicular, Tarantella Napoletana, The Sound of Silence, Libertango, William Tell Overture and many others. 2019 Harmonika Fest - Montenegroby Christine Johnstone |
The 2019 Harmonika Fest International Music Festival for Accordion will be held in Tivat, Montenegro from May 29th to 31st. The event was founded in 2010 in Cetinje, where it was held until 2014 and is organised by the NGO "Harmonika Montenegrina" from Podgorica, with project manager, Professor Predrag Jankovic. The primary goal of this project is the exchange of knowledge, practice and experience as well as acquaintance with domestic and international trends in contemporary concert and pedagogical practice for the accordion. This year’s event will include a new International Competition for accordion soloists, chamber music and orchestras. This is also the first international competition for classical accordion held in Montenegro. Concerts will be given by tango group Trio Logija (picture above left), soloist Damir Sultanov (Kazachstan), and the Kragujevacki Academy Accordion Orchestra (picture below).
