Ballet Premiere with Accordion, Madrid - Spain

Angel Luis CastanoLast week, Spanish concert accordionist Angel Luis Castaño (accordion) premiered with his trio ‘Rejoice!’ consisting of David del Puerto (electric guitar and electronics), Laia Falcón (soprano), a new ballet titled ‘Carmen Replay’, by David del Puerto (Spanish Music National Award 2005).

On May 13th, 14th and 15th, the ballet was performed a total of five times in the Auditorio Padre Soler, Madrid, and the calculated listening audience has been about 2,000. This ballet has been produced by Royal Opera Theater with the collaboration of the National Ballet Company. This ballet included images by famous Italian video artist Lucca Scarzella, and the choreography was done by French master Tony Fabre.

The music, played live, has been composed by David del Puerto from the historical character of Carmen. The trio ‘Rejoice!’ now offers a new musical instrumentation for the public, including a digital Roland V-Accordion, played by Angel Luis Castaño, using other electronic elements such as GT10.

The success of ‘Carmen Replay’ ballet has resulted in many new engagements and the ballet will have future performances in Italy, Sevilla, Madrid, Alcalá, Gijón, etc, during 2010 and 2011.
