New Works by Composer Elizabeta Ilievska-Bete Performed, Skopje - Macedoniaby Anica Karakutovska |
The annual event ‘Days of Macedonian Music 2011’, organized by the Association of Composers of Macedonia – SOCOM, under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Macedonia and the Ministry of Culture, was held from March 21st to 30th in Skopje. At the Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra concert on March 24th, for the first time in the 66 years that the orchestra has existed, they performed a composition with an accordion soloist. The conductor was Sasha Nikolovski–Gjumar (picture above, Ilievska-Bete and performers bow). The composition titled ‘Capriccio’ by Elizabeta Ilievska-Bete, received excellent critical acclaim. The accordion solo was performed by Bojan Volcevski, a student of Prof. Zorica Karakutovska at the Faculty of Music Skopje. On March 29th, the chamber music concert presented another new work by Elizabeta Ilievska-Bete titled ‘Sigh’ (For my guardian angel) which was performed by the eminent musicians and pedagogues Anna Kontradenko (violin), Oleg Kontradenko (violin), Frosina Balova (viola), Aleksandar Kotevski (violoncello) and Zorica Karakutovska (accordion) (picture below). This new work was also very well received by the large audience and the music critics said it was “an excellent new work”.
