2nd ‘Olimpo Musicale’, Prienai – Lithuaniaby Holda Paoletti-Kampl |
From June 3rd to 8th, in the town of Prienai, the event ‘Olimpo Musicale’ took place. This 2nd International Competition for Young Musicians is a unique event in Lithuania. The headmaster of the Veiveriai A.Kucingis Art School of the Prienai region, Mindaugas Labanauskas, was Director of the competition. The piano teacher of the same school Rasa Blebaite acted as Artistic Director. About 200 young musicians playing various musical instruments participated in the competition. Many came from abroad: Latvia, Estonia, Belarus, Russia and Poland. The participants - from 6 to 17 year old - played 22 various different musical instruments: including accordion and bayan. The international jury included: Professor Eugenijus Ignatonis (Chairman, Lithuania), Prof. Andris Baumanis (Latvia), Prof. Bohdan Lukaszevicz (Poland), Mirco Patarini (Italy) and Vytautas Alenskas (Lithuania). The most important criteria were talent, musicianship and artistry. 5 Grand Prix were awarded in the competition, and the prizes were donated by Lithuanian and Italian companies: Scandalli, Paolo Soprani, Pasco Italia, Voci Armoniche.
