| Le 11eme Festival de hiver Accordéon Kokkola aura lieu du 15 au 22 Février. Ce festival comprend une variété de concerts, danses, ateliers et autres manifestations, avec des genres musicaux allant du classique à la musique folk, et de compositions contemporaines et la musique sacrée. Il ya aussi la danse et les événements extérieurs, sans oublier les possibilités de ski! Artistes qui figurent notamment le Tango Queen Kaija Pohjola et son orchestre, l'Orchestre Guardia Nueva, La Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra, le Antti Sarpila Swing Band, le Cajun Comets, la région de Kokkola Accordéon Club, Petri Ikkelä - concertina, symphonium, et Antti Paalanen accordéonistes, Pedro Hietanen, Janne Rättyä, João Frade, Petri Ikkelä, Jarno Kuusisto, et Seppo Hovi. Tour additionnel après la Coupe Mondiale - Nouvelle-Zélandeby Harley Jones |
 Suite à de nombreuses demandes de la part d’accordéonistes participant à la prochaine Coupe Mondiale en Nouvelle-Zélande (25 au 29 août 2009), les organisateurs proposent quelques jours supplémentaires pour visiter l’île du nord et participer à des concerts, ceci pour rentabiliser le déplacement dans ce pays lointain.Au programme : une excursion d’une journée à Dargaville avec un concert, visite d’un Maori Marae, du Bayly’s Beach, du Musée de l’Accordeon. Le soir, les participants seront accueillis par une réception, suivis d’un dîner. Au programme du concert de Dargaville : l’ensemble d’accordéons de Hof (Allemagne), l’orchestre mondial d’accordéon III, sous la direction de trois chefs d’orchestre ainsi que des participants au concours. Par la suite, les organisateurs proposent de faire le tour de l’île du nord en 6 jours, incluant aussi 3 concerts. Les concerts seront donnés par un orchestre composé de d’accordéonistes de l’orchestre mondial d’accordéon III sous la direction de Madame Joan Cochran Sommers (USA). Tous les accordéonistes qui le désirent auront la possibilité par la suite de visiter l’île du nord et d’intégrer le "World Accordion Orchestra III". Ils participeront alors à quatre concerts. Le prix est très attractif en raison de la faible valeur du dollar néo-zélandais. Mat Mathews (1924-2009), Rotterdam - Pays-Basby Rob Howard |
 L’ accordéoniste Néerlandais de jazz Mat Mathews (né Mathieu Schwartz) est décédé le 12 Février à Rotterdam, à l'âge de 84 ans. Mathews est né à La Haye et apprend à jouer de l'accordéon tandis que les Pays-Bas a été sous le régime nazi pendant la Deuxième Guerre Mondiale. Après avoir entendu Joe Mooney sur une émission de radio après la guerre, il a décidé de commencer à jouer du jazz. De 1947 à 1950 Mathews a joué avec les meuniers, en Hollande, puis a déménagé à New York en 1952. Il a formé un quatuor de là, et a également joué avec de nombreux autres musiciens de jazz. Il a découvert la chanteuse de jazz Carmen McCrae en 1954, et a travaillé en tant que son accompagnateur. En 1956, il a joué dans le groupe les 4 plus avec Al Cohn, Gener Quill, Hank Jones et Mundell Lowe Plus tard dans les années 1950 et dans les années 1960, il a travaillé principalement comme musicien de studio, a enseigné au Conservatoire de Philadelphie, en 1964 et retourne aux Pays-Bas. Là, il a continué à travailler dans des studios comme arrangeur et producteur, et a enregistré moins de joueur. Plusieurs pistes de Mat Mathews ont été inclus dans le coffret 2007 CD «Le Jazz et Swing Story '. |
Recherche accordéoniste pour un Tour Adriatique! - Grèceby Paul Kirby |
 La Caravane est une troupe de théâtre professionnel qui effectue des tournées et d'un grand voilier de 30 mètres. Caravane de la cinquième saison de la Tournée européenne de l'eau, actuellement amarré dans Galaxidi, la Grèce, et des préparatifs pour une nouvelle tournée, à partir de répétitions en Grèce du 1er Mai. La troupe est à la recherche d'un accordéoniste de rejoindre leur spectacle, qui se déroulera du 10 Juin au 14Septembre, en tournée ouest de la Grèce, l'Albanie, le Monténégro et le sud de la Croatie. En essence, la Caravane a crée le travail expérimental, de l'environnement et les thèmes contemporains intégrant l'histoire, du caractère, de la poésie, chansons, musique, arts aériens, le mouvement, et les effets spéciaux. Les spectacles sont joués sur le pont et du gréement du navire avec le public assis sur le rivage. Le spectacle de cette saison, est un opéra d'avant-garde, appelée UTOPIQUE banquise ... thématique basé sur le réchauffement de la planète et la culture Devastation, dans un pas-à-distant future zone temps, lorsque la Terre est un brûlé Globe avec seulement une poignée de l'espèce humaine en vie pour raconter leurs histoires. La Caravane se payer tous les frais de Voyage. Ainsi que la réalisation, les acteurs et les musiciens seront les membres de l'équipage du navire, et apprendre à naviguer, piloter le navire, et d'effectuer toutes les tâches de navigation.  Akkonsonanz, a concert project of the conservatory of Vienna private university, has as a goal the promotion of talented accordion pupils of the Viennese schools of music. By participating in the students' concert of the accordion class, it offers to them a view of the current requirements of accordion studies at the university of music. The idea of the project was developed by Kathrin Thorack, accordion teacher at the music school N° 5 in Vienna and Grzegorz Stopa, director of the international accordion class at the conservatoire of Vienna private university, and takes place annually since the opening of the first accordion class at university level in Vienna in 2005. Akkonsonanz enjoys a constantly growing interest of the young accordionists and the public. The program of the recent concert included works by J.S. Bach, T. Schlunck, I. Stravinsky, L. Saglie, F.  Ksenija Sidorova, a student of the Royal Academy of Music, London, won the 'Friends of the Royal Academy of Music Wigmore Award' competition on February 5th in the Wigmore Hall. Ksenija Sidorova was also awarded the audience prize. It is significant to note that this was a competition of the highest level involving all instruments and voice, with a professional jury that included maestro Yan Pascal Tortelier. That accordionists are having such success in competitions of this level open to all instruments and voice, is extremely exciting and moves the accordion another step closer to being fully integrated into the classical music culture in the UK. | Following the CIA Winter Congress in Bratislava at the beginning of February, Frédéric Deschamps was invited to the jury of the Coupe Jeunesse competition organized by Tibor Racz, Dunajka Streda. Two of Fred Deschamp's brightest students were invited to perform: Julien Gonzales (France), 6 times winners of international competitions in classical and variété, Grayson Masefield (New Zealand), CMA Variete Champion 2008 and winner Castelfidardo 2008 category D, classical senior. In the first part of concert, the two artists performed classic pieces by Franck Angelis, transcriptions of Mozart, the piece of Viatcheslav Semionov "Aurores Bauréales" which won the award for best composition in the 2008 Coupe Mondiale. The second part of the concert was of French Variété music which really appealed to the audience. Also performing was Petar Maric of Belgrade, a student of the great teacher and master of the Tango Alexander Nikolic, leader of the group Beltango, who took advantage of the presence of specialist in Variété tuition Frédéric Deschamps' to learn more of this repertoire, under the watchful eyes of his teacher. A report of the Coupe Jeunesse competition including results is expected from the organiser Tibor Racz next week. |

Tutor will be Matti Rantanen, Head of Accordion at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, who has worked with and premiered works by leading composers in Finland including Magnus Lindberg.Wednesday March 4th, 7.30 pm - Accordion Showcase, David Josefowitz Recital Hall. Works for solo accordion and chamber music with accordion and strings, including pieces by Bach, Scarlatti, Sofia Gubaidulina, Piazzolla, Jurgen Ganzer and Piazzolla.  Soucieux d’apporter leur contribution au développement et à une pratique de qualité de l’accordéon Robert colombo et son fils Laurent prennent l’initiative d’organiser un stage d’accordéon à Saint-Louis, dans le Haut-Rhin, avec le soutien du Conseil Municipal.Cette première édition aura lieu du 20 au 29 juillet 2009.Forts de leurs expériences, les porteurs du projet se veulent vecteurs de réussite. Ce stage s’adresse à des musiciens motivés, d’âge minimum 14 ans et qui ont plus de 5 années de pratique. Les cours individuels et collectifs seront agrémentés d’activités à la carte telles que : maintenance, séances d’enregistrements, harmonie, informatique (MAO). On y parlera aussi de sujets comme le répertoire, le trac, sans oublier la foire aux questions. L’équipe pédagogique constituée de Jean-Marc Marroni, Laurent et Robert Colombo, que l’on entendra en concert auront à cœur de transmettre leur savoir dans une ambiance conviviale et stimulante. Afin de préserver l’excellence de l’enseignement et l’intensité du travail des stagiaires, les places seront limitées à 18. Misant sur sa situation géographique(ville limitrophe à l’Allemagne et la Suisse), la qualité de l’accueil ainsi que le vaste choix de perfectionnements proposés, cette initiative se veut prometteuse d’un bel avenir européen et un lieu de rencontre privilégié pour les accordéonistes.  Chango Spasiuk, the 2005 BBC world music award-winning accordionist and composer, leads his quartet in a performance of Chamamé, the folk music of the North East of Argentina at The Wardrobe, St Peter’s Square, Cross Green, Leeds, West Yorkshire on February 25th, 8.45pm. Chango's revitalizing of the lesser-known Chamamé native folk music tradition draws on and paints a rich melting pot sound picture of dances from his ancestral Ukraine, life in his beloved Misiones Province homeland (bordering Brazil and Paraguay) along with the technique , touch and tradition of Spanish classical music. |

  On February 24, the International Music Foundation "Harmony", has organised a solo concert by Alexander Poeluev at the Museum of Modern Art in Rostov-on-Don. The concert is dedicated to the upcoming World Accordion Day. This date was when the accordion was patented in 1829, and will be a unified global crusade to promote the diversity of the accordion and the outstanding artists that play it. Accordionists around the world are invited to join this international tribute to the accordion by holding an accordion event in honor of World Accordion Day on or close to May 6th.  Preparations are well in place for the Nyah County Cavan Festival 2009 (March 11th-20th) which will see hundreds of musicians and artists descend on the Breffni territory throughout the month of March to take part in a packed programme of events. The NYAH Festival celebrates the traditional music song, dance and culture of County Cavan. Now in the 6th year, this year’s festival includes a CD launch by piano accordionist Dean Warner. Dean Warner, from Leeds, England, was an All Ireland Champion in 2005. The launch takes place at a concert on March 13th, 8.30pm, at the Ramor Theatre, Virginia, Cavan. The following evening, March 14th, 8.30pm, a concert at the Ramor Theatre features button accordionists Joe Burke & Ann Conroy, and melodeon player Johnny Connolly.
