‘Classics in Jazz’ Album & CD of Wolmer Beltrami – Italy/Germanyby Holda Paoletti-Kampl |
 The Wurzburger Musikverlag - Elwephon Records R & T, Germany has released a CD, ‘Classics in Jazz’, containing 12 compositions of pieces by well known composers, arranged and performed in jazz style by the late virtuoso accordionist Wolmer Beltrami. The 12 arrangements are also published in book form.These 12 masterfully performed recordings and arrangements are of great historical significance, and will help to preserve the memory of the great Wolmer Beltrami. Wolmer Beltrami (1922 – 1999), performed in many countries, and is regarded by many as one of Italy’s accordion ‘greats’. In the post-war years he joined forces with fellow Italian accordionist Gorni Kramer as the duo Kramer & Wolmer. In 1960 the CMA awarded Beltrami the prestigious World Oscar for his services to the accordion. He later became closely involved with the cinema, recording many film soundtracks. Beltrami’s style was unique and much admired, and he was equally at home performing accordion specialities, jazz, dance music and classical music.
