Geir Draugsvoll performs with the LSO, London – UKby Rob Howard |
Geir Draugsvoll performs with the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO), conducted by Valery Gergiev, at the Barbican Hall, London, to an already sold out hall, on November 24th, 7.30pm. The program includes ‘Symphony No 5’ – Tchaikovsky, ‘Fachwerk’ - Sofia Gubaidulina, and ‘Symphony No 1’ – Prokofiev. The LSO advertises: Gubaidulina’s use of the bayan accordion is highly purposeful: the instrument’s mechanics and timbre mirror the practice of timber framing to which the work’s title Fachwerk refers, where solid construction underpins a charming outer appearance. Geir Draugsvoll (born 1967) is Norwegian, but now lives in Copenhagen, where he is associate professor at the Royal Academy of Music, Denmark. Geir Draugsvoll has played with orchestras like Russian National Orchestra, the Netherlands Symphony Orchestra, Kremerata Baltica, Moscow Soloists, Norwegian Radio Symphony Orchestra, has made concerts all over Europe and also toured to China and Japan. |
