Berlin Celebrates Piazzolla - Germany

banner
Due to the epidemiological situation and the associated restrictions, neither concerts in closed rooms nor, as an alternative, an open-air concert at the Brandenburg Gate were possible.

Instead, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Astor Piazzolla, the concert "Berlin celebrates Piazzolla" was recorded on May 30th, 2021 in the "Auen Church" and published on the Pantonale website on June 13th, 2021 at 7pm.

In addition to works by Piazzolla, Bach, Scarlatti, Saint-Saëns and Galliano, the program also included new works and arrangements by Victor Vlasov, Pawel Steczek and Gorka Hermosa.

Performers included the Quinteto Respiro (France), soloists Yuri Shishkin (Russia), Egle Bartkevicuté (Lithuania), Sergey Osokin and Piotr Yarinenko (Russia), Ryan Corbett (Scotland) and Gorka Hermosa (Spain) who performed accompanied by strings from the Berliner Symphoniker under the direction of the conductor Symeon Ioannidis.

Gorka Hermosa is one of the most played accordion composers today. At this concert he was invited to premiere his “Dwarves‘ Tales” for accordion and strings, which he dedicated to the Pantonale Festival and its organizer Waldemar Fleischhauer.

Egle Bartkeviciute is the winner of the most prestigious international accordion competitions. In her solo concert programs she always inspires and touches the audience with her very special and extraordinary sound colors as well as elegant and soulful interpretations.

Ryan Corbett is still studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and was already heard at the 2017 PHILHARMONIKA Festival in the Chamber Music Hall of the Berlin Philharmonic.

Sergey Osokin is a graduate of the Russian Gnesin Music Academy in Moscow in the class of the renowned concert artist and professor Friedrich Lips. Osokin is a soloist with the Moscow Philharmonic, an internationally active concert musician and teaches at the Moscow State Schnittke College. In addition to his classical repertoire, he made a name for himself with his interpretations in jazz and upscale light music with works by R. Galliano, A.v. Damme, S. Gainsbourg, C. Thomain, M. Ferrero, J.F. Baez, J. Richard, K. Weill and A. Astier.

Piotr Yarinenko has already won prizes at international competitions and is one of the most promising talents in his country.

Yuri Shishkin is an internationally acclaimed bayan virtuoso and, without exaggeration, already a "living legend". In addition to countless world premieres of works by A. Kusyakov and Viatcheslav Semionov, he also inspires his audience with arrangements of classical literature.
