Roland V Accordion… and Bob Dylan, Los Angeles – USA

Ben Lovett
Roland instruments were prominent at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards held in Los Angeles, California, on February 13th 2011.

During a performance by the iconic Bob Dylan (picture right), Ben Lovett of the British folk rock group Mumford and Sons played an FR-7x. The members of Mumford and Sons are known for being multi-instrumentalists and Ben (vocals, keyboards, accordion and drums) is no exception.

Mumford and Sons was formed in 2007 by Marcus Mumford, Ben Lovett, Winston Marshall, and Ted Dwane. Recently the band was nominated for several Grammy Awards and won the 2011 Brit Award in the ‘Best Album Category’ for the album ‘Sigh No More’.

In a recent interview for Roland TV Ben spoke about the V Piano and why he performs with the FR-7x V-Accordion.  He points out that the difficulty in effectively miking an acoustic accordion for a live performance was one of the reasons he started playing a V-Accordion. He also says that an acoustic accordion never sounds as rich miked as it does acoustically.

The FR-7x was the solution to these issues.  With the FR-7x he has found the best sound to blend with the band.
