Mika Väyrynen to perform World Premiere, Loviisa - Finlandby Kevin Friedrich |
The Loviisa Sibelius Festival will hold a concert at the Porvoo Church in Finland on 8 September 2017 at 7:00 PM. The concert will feature the World Premiere of the latest work by one of Finland's most renowned composers, Prof. Aulis Sallinen (b. 1935). The work for accordion, violin, cello and piano was written in honor of Finnish accordionist Mika Väyrynen's upcoming 50th Birthday. By Sallinen's request, this new 5 movement work does not include program notes, the only text written is: "this work is written as birthday present to my musician friend, Mika Väyrynen.” This piece will be the 6th World Premiere by Mika of works by Prof. Sallinen, during a collaboration which spans more than 15 years. The World Premiere of this work "Dance Music Suite Op. 107" for accordion, violin, cello and piano will be performed by Mika and fellow musicans Elina Vähälä (violin), Jan-Erik Gustafsson (cello - Artistic Director of The Loviisa Sibelius Festival) and Paavali Jumppanen (piano). This work is one of six new works written for Mika Väyrynen in honor of his 50th birthday (7th October 2017) and Finland´s 100th celebration of its Independence. The other five works will all have their 'World Premiere' at his upcoming birthday concert on 11th October 2017 at The Camerata Hall of The Helsinki Music Center. |
