Latvian accordionist Ksenija Sidorova has received an award – ‘Concert recording of the year’ - from Echo Klassic, Germany's major annual classical music award, for her 2016 recording of the music from Bizet’s ‘Carmen’. The award ceremony takes place in Berlin in October. Ksenija Sidorova’s CD ‘Carmen’, released on June 3rd 2016, is a vibrant and exotic new instrumental take on Georges Bizet's operatic masterpiece, infused with a modern sound and original Latin spirit. She performs Bizet’s music with the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Sascha Goetzel. The melodies of the world's most famous opera are re-imagined in captivating Oriental colours and the irresistible rhythms of Latin American dance. Sidorova interprets the title role, tracing the passionate, tragic destiny of this iconic Femme Fatale on her debut album for Deutsche Grammophon.
