Keith Hancock Tour – UK, Belgium, Netherlandsby Rob Howard |
Keith Hancock, originally from Manchester but now living in Vietnam, started his musical life playing the melodeon for Morris dance teams. He later played with various folk bands, most notably the Electropathic Battery Band, and also as a vocal/instrumental duo with his then wife Janet. He became a full-time solo performer in 1983, using the 3-row melodeon. Keith’s first solo album ‘This World We Live In’ was released in 1984, and his second, ‘Madhouse’, was released in 1988. A third album, ‘Born Blue’, appeared in 2005. Musically, Keith Hancock borders on the edge of rock music in style without losing sight of his folk roots. He is a notable songwriter, politically left of centre, whose lyrics are often hard hitting on a whole range of social issues. In 1990, he assembled the Keith Hancock Band, consisting of folk heavyweight performers Martin Carthy, Dave Swarbrick, and Rauri McFarlane. |
