 The ‘Erste Kölner Akkordeon-Orchester 1935’ will undertake a concert tour to western Canada from the June 3oth to July 16th. This will be the 5th time that the orchestra goes on tour to another continent, and the Cologners will give 7 concerts in the cities to Calgary, Edmonton, Lethbridge, Kimberley, Kelowna and Vancouver.Among these are planned two large Gala concerts for UNICEF Canada. The concerts take place during the Kimberley International Old Time Accordion Championships, as well as in German-Canadian clubs. In Calgary there will be a combined concert with Jarosh Accordion Ensemble, the local accordion orchestra. UNICEF ambassador Marie Luise Marjan, from Germany, will accompany the touring party. Marie Luise Marjan, a UNICEF ambassador since 1990, will be responsible for presentation of the concert program, which has a ‘European Thoughts’ theme.
