 L’accordéoniste et bandonéoniste portugais Joao Gentil récemment en Amérique du Sud nous rapports comme suit: «Je suis allé à Buenos Aires pour enregistrer un CD pour satisfaire ma passion pour le tango et la culture argentine. Alors là, je joue sur Radio Nacional Argentina, pour la promotion de mes concerts avec mon ami accordéoniste Sergio que nous avons faits ensemble à Buenos Aires. J'ai également joué sur «Argentinisima», l'émission de TV, qui a la plus grande audience en Argentine. Sergio Pinget et moi, on a joué dans plusieurs concerts, qui ont assisté, en jouant principalement de la musique argentine, comme Milongas, Tangos, chamamé, et aussi de la musique portugaise, qui a ravi le public argentin. J'ai assisté à un séminaire intensif de Bandoneon avec un professeur de l'Academia Nacional del Tango de Buenos Aires, et dans mon temps libre (qui n'était pas beaucoup!), j'ai assisté à un cours de danse pour apprendre à danser le tango. Ce fut une expérience vraiment positive à Buenos Aires, en jouant de l'accordéon et de bandonéon avec de superbes musiciens argentins. La Colombie est connu dans le monde pour sa musique vallenato et est un pays où presque tous les enfants veulent jouer de l'accordéon diatonique, avec Hohner étant très populaire là-bas. J'ai joué dans la ville de Valledupar pour la «II Encuentro Mundial de Musicas de Acordeon», où il y avait des accordéonistes de la République tchèque, l'Argentine, la Colombie, et du Portugal. J'ai joué au concert de gala, spectacles de la musique portugaise, le Fado, à la fois chanter et jouer. Pour terminer le concert, j'ai invité des percussionnistes de la Colombie et on a improvisé une chanson très populaire Vallenato appelé "La Gota Fria", et le public a adoré. Alors que dans la ville de Valledupar, j'ai visité l'école d'accordéon qui était pleine de jeunes étudiants enthousiastes. J'ai également eu l'occasion formidable d'échanger des connaissances musicales et d'idées, l'apprentissage de la musique vallenato colombien avec les élèves etje leur est enseigne le système d'accordéon chromatique et de la musique portugaise. J'ai également donné des concerts à Santa Marta, Cartagena et Bogota, pour conclure mon voyage passionnant en Amérique du Sud " Joao Gentil, accordéoniste et bandonéoniste. |

 Photo ci-dessus: Eugeny Gaynullov, Viatcheslav Semionov, Dinar Ibragimov, Sergey Osokin, Ilyas Galimzyanov, Dmitri YarkinovLe III national de sélection pour Coupe Mondiale et le Trophée Mondiale "Champion de la Russie - Champion du monde" a eu lieu à 27 de Juin 2010 à Moscou. L'objectif de la sélection est le soutien de jeunes artistes talentueux accordéoniste à participer à la Mondiale Coupé 2010 (Croatie) et de 2010 Trophée Mondiale (Espagne). L'initiateur de cet événement est Artiste du peuple de Russie, Viatcheslav Semionov Prof. Le III de sélection national (ainsi que deux précédents) a été organisée par CSMC (ANO "Creative école Master Class" membre votant) de la CIA et de l'AMC (CMA), avec le soutien de la banque "Zénith". Le jury était composé de musiciens célèbres et des lauréats de nombreux concours internationaux, désormais les tuteurs universitaires: Viatcheslav Semionov (président), Yuri Sidorov, Alexander Selivanov, Sergey Osokin. Le concours de cette année a une forme en plusieurs étapes. En conséquence, le jury a écouté plus de 300 jeunes artistes! L'audition finale a eu lieu dans la salle de la Maison des anciens combattants de la Cinématographie, Moscou, le 27 Juin. Après la sélection, les meilleurs artistes ont reçu les lettres de recommandation pour participer à des compétitions sélectionnées. Les lauréats recevront des dépenses Voyage à chaque concours, ainsi que le coût des visas et des frais d'inscription. En outre, tous les participants qui ont reçu les recommandations recevront également des master-classes des enseignants à la tête de la Russie.  Russian accordionist and violinist Yuri Medianik has begun performing frequently on stage as a conductor. chamber orchestra "Pluri_Art," which he has directed for some 3 years and is also the manager. Yuri Medianik (former student of Viatcheslav Semionov), 1st prize winner of the International Competition of Moscow 2000 and laureate of international competitions as a violinist and accordionist, hasn’t appeared on stage with the accordion and violin so much lately. This is due to being the conductor of the chamber orchestra ‘Pluri_Art’, which he has directed for some 3 years and is also the manager. However,he is returning to the concert stage again with new projects. One of the most recent concerts in Russia was with the famous Glinka String Quartet. Yuri Medianik usually plays the violin and the bayan in his recitals but in this concert he played also the bandoneon. The Glinka String Quartet gives more than 50 concerts in a year, and have recorded more than 10 CDs, and their music is often heard on the radio. Next season, some more joint concerts are planned with the Glinka Quartet. Another concert (June 14th) took place at the Opera House in the city of Voronezh. Yuri Medianik played 3 instruments: violin, button accordion and bandoneon, and his programme included transcriptions and arrangements of pieces by Vitali, Kreisler, etc. Using the button accordion he played R. Galliano’s ‘Opale Concerto’, and with the bandoneon played some tangos of composers of the Soviet period. |

 US accordionist Bruce Gassman has released his first solo CD, ‘Classic Rock Accordion 2 Bruce’. This CD made its debut during his performance on July 15th at the AAA Festival in Hershey, PA, and on Thursday evening, July 22nd has a second release date at the ATG 70th Anniversary Celebration in Santa Clara, CA.When asked about the music, Bruce said; “This is the music I grew up with and love to listen to and play and it appears that the timing is right for a child of the 60s, in his 60s, playing 60s music!!! I wanted to capture the same feel and emotion of a live performance even though it was recorded in a studio. So there are no tricks and no overdubs; just two hands and one accordion”. Bruce has had a busy time recently, with guest appearances at the 2010 National Accordion Association Convention in Dallas, playing for a production of ‘Fiddler on the Roof’, performing at the Mid-Atlantic Music Teachers Guild Gala Event, as guest artist for the Washington Metropolitan Accordion Society, and playing with Maestro Dan Desiderio and the Accordion Pops Orchestra. On June 26th Bruce entertained Danny Desiderio at his Surprise 80th Birthday Party in Philadelphia. Danny and his friends were delighted to hear Bruce’s Rock and Roll accordion selections. In November Bruce will perform and lead workshops at the 2010 Las Vegas International Accordion Convention, and also perform at the Florida Accordion Association’s annual “SMASH” event in Florida.  Accordionist/singer Phil Carrol & violinist Ernie Gruner from Melbourne, Australia performed at the Bunker in Devonport on Mothers Day Sunday May 9th at 8pm. This concert was part of a tour of 10 concerts in New Zealand in 2010.The music was unusual from all over Eastern Europe & very gypsy like. Phil Carrol, whose forebears come from Ireland acted more like a real gypsy and was very capable of singing in French, Russian, Polish, and Arabian. He played several reed instruments from Turkey obtaining an eerie sound. Ernie Gruner had a Hungarian mother and Polish father, both Jewish, and he played and sang Yiddish and Klezmer music. They joined the music together with interesting snippets and they often play at the Budapest Restaurant in Melbourne. An interesting and enjoyable evening that made me think of Europe! |

| Les stages Frédéric Deschamps affichent complet pour ce mois de Juillet avec une fréquentation hebdomadaire de 12 à 14 stagiaires venus du Monde entier pour préparer les concours internationaux de l'automne prochain, à savoir la Coupe Mondiale, le Trophée Mondial et Le concours de Castelfirdardo. Outre les grands noms de la nouvelle génération d'accordéonistes comme Grayson Masefield (Nouvelle Zélande), Petar Maric, Joao Barradas (Portugal) ou encore Pietro Adragna, les futurs acteurs de la scène internationale étaient présents à savoir Christel Sauttaux (Suisse), Augustinas Rakauskas (Lithuanie), Zao Liu (Chine), Nicola Peppe Sirroli (Italy), Alexander Veretennikov (Russie), etc. En ce qui concerne la classe française, la nouvelle génération d'accordéoniste se prépare ardemment à marcher sur les traces de Jérôme Richard, Vincent Peirani, Fred Baldo, Phil Bouvier, Mickael Vigneau, Benoit Chabod, Vincent Carenzi, Julien ‘Speedy’ Gonzales, etc. Les petits Lorenzo Verwaerde, Aurore Touchard, Caroline Rhuland, Julie Blocher, Emilien Roy et quelques autres n'ont pour l'instant que 14 ans mais les grands n'ont qu'à bien se tenir … les petits n'ont peur de rien ni de personnes et travaillent dur pour que leur noms figurent dans la liste du Team Deschamps. 3 places sont toujours disponibles pour les stages Deschamps entre le 15 et le 30 aout. | Mylie Thwaites (2003 AATA Open Solo Champion), from New Zealand, has studied accordion in the Ukraine for 6 years, under the tutelage of Professor Vladimir Besfamilnov at the Ukrainian National Music Academy in Kiev. She is the first New Zealander to study and major in accordion in Eastern Europe. Mylie Thwaites recently performed her final performance examination and was awarded High Distinction for her Diploma performance.  The 55th AFNA, Inc. Music Festival and Competition takes place from August 12th to 14th at the Irvine Hyatt Regency, close to the John Wayne Airport, Irvine, Orange County, California. Hotel rooms can be booked with AFNA to receive the special Festival rate.Special festival events include concerto competitions, a luncheon honoring Sylvia Prior, a mass Festival Accordion Orchestra, and much more. The competitions include a ‘Sylvia Prior Concerto Competition’ for Accordion with Orchestra, and also for Piano with Orchestra. The accordion test piece is ‘Rhapsody for Accordion’, composed by Gary Daverne. A special luncheon in honor of Sylvia Prior takes place on August 14th, 12.30pm, and is an opportunity for those who studied with Tito Guidotti to say hello to Sylvia and their daughters, Adrian and Sylvana.  The duo ‘Bon Soir’ are accordionist Lindsay Garvin and pianist Anthony King. Bon Soir entertain at Nunzios Italian Restaurant on Queen Street, Blackpool, every Wednesday, 7.30pm until late, until September 29th. Their music takes in styles between Paris, Italy, Spain, Cuba, Latin America, Popular, Classical and Jazz.Originally taught accordion by the late Ken Hartley, Lindsay Garvin studied the accordion and piano at Chetham's School of Music in Manchester, performing with the Chetham's Orchestra, on the radio, and in the Brundibar Opera.  Vivant! will be performing as the featured guest artistes and also adjudicating at the Mid-America Music Association's annual festival at the St. Louis Airport Marriott Hotel, St. Louis, Missouri, on Sunday, August 1st, 12 noon, in the Ballroom (just prior to the Awards Ceremony).M.A.M.A. is a huge music event in the Midwest, attracting 2,000+ entrants in all areas of music performance.  The Ersten Koelner Akkordeon-Orchester 1935? celebrates its 75th anniversary with a special concert on Saturday September 4th, 8pm, at the Philharmonic Hall in Cologne. Titled ‘TonVielFalten’, this concert combines instrumental and a-cappella singing, featuring the orchestra and the vocal group Basta.Founded in 1935, Heinz Gengler has been the orchestra's conductor since its inception and for 62 years this famous accordion orchestra was led by only Heinz Gengler as conductor. Now in recent years, Matthias Hennecke is the main conductor. The orchestra is one of the longest established in Germany with an excellent international reputation, and foreign travels including concerts in Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, France, Holland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Namibia, South Africa, Poland, United Kingdom, Russia, Switzerland and the USA.
