Ove Hahn Passes Away, Stockholm – Swedenby Rob Howard |
Ove Hahn (1934-2009), from Stockholm, Sweden, died on May 6th, aged 75. A lifelong enthusiast for the accordion, he campaigned for many years to persuade radio and television in Sweden to broadcast more accordion music. Ove Hahn was a capable administrator who served as President of the Confederation Internationale Des Accordeonistes from 1982 to 2001, succeeded by Kevin Friedrich. He was also a past President of the Swedish Accordionists Association. In 1986 Ove Hahn wrote the biography, 'Anthony Galla-Rini on His Life and the Accordion', published by Nils Fläcke Music, Stockholm. In 1990 he wrote a reference book about the accordion, ‘Bengts dragspel: äkta svenskt dragspelshantverk’. He also contributed to ‘The Swedish Music Miracle, 75 years - from the Winter of Our Time’, a book published in 2001 surveying the music scene in Sweden since the 1930s. |
