Argentina y Colombia de nuevo se encontrarán en Mundial de Acordeones (VER CONVOCATORIA ANEXA)by Rob Howard |
El acordeonista Walter Gialdi, de Córdoba (Argentina), confirmó su presencia en el quinto Encuentro Mundial de Músicas de Acordeón que se celebra en Valledupar en el mes de junio cada año. Gialdi, concertista de gran trayectoria, fue seleccionado en 2007 para representar a su país en el prestigioso Festival de Castelfidardo (Italia), evento que reúne acordeonistas de todas partes del mundo y posee uno de los más altos niveles de competencia. Su importancia se debe a que en este pueblo se encuentra la mayor cantidad de fábricas de acordeones de las más reconocidas en el ámbito musical. Por otro parte, desde la capital del país, anunció también su presentación Luis Eduardo Cortés Landazábal, músico y luthier que ha desarrollado un proyecto de un acordeón nuevo en su afinación y estructura en el cual interpreta ritmos como el tico tico y la zamba brasileros, tango, bambuco, porro, vallenato, y músicas de Paraguay y Chile, entre otras. Cortés Landazábal participará en el encuentro con un concierto para acordeón y piano o guitarra. El acordeón que utilizará será el diseñado por él, el cual fue presentado en la pasada cumbre de técnicos el año pasado, en el marco del cuarto encuentro. La intención es – dice Luis Eduardo - “presentarlo en sociedad para que las personas y los músicos de acordeón puedan apreciar algunas de las bondades que ofrece el nuevo instrumento”. Luis Eduardo Cortés fue la persona – recordó Lolita Acosta, directora del Mundial de Acordeones - “que me dio la idea de realizar el homenaje a los técnicos del acordeón vallenato que se les hizo el año pasado”. Este año regresará como intérprete. Hasta la fecha han asegurado sus presentaciones para la quinta edición del evento: el conjunto uruguayo de acordeones dirigido por el maestro Silvio Previale, el Dúo Nuevo Mundo que dirige el acordeonista Lácides Romero, el concertista argentino Walter Gialdi, el artista plástico Luis Alberto Pérez Benavides y Luis Eduardo Cortés con el acordeón creado por él mismo. Las inscripciones se cerrarán el 18 de abril y el encuentro se realizará del 19 al 22 de junio. Se hará en homenaje a don Jacob Luque García, el primer importador en Valledupar de acordeones Hohner para sus almacenes La Paciencia y La Nueva Paciencia. |
YOSHIYA WATANABE (1952-2013), TOKIO – JAPÓNby Rob Howard |
Yoshiya Watanabe, famoso como investigador y coleccionista, intérprete y analista del mundo del acordeón, falleció el domingo 9 de febrero de 2013, a la edad de 60 años. Atesoraba una de las más importantes colecciones de acordeones antiguos la cual nunca dejó de agrandar y compartir con todos los interesados en el tema. Imagen de la izquierda: 1968 Criado en Egipto, luego Alemania, donde asistió a la Escuela Internacional de Hamburgo, y más tarde la International Christian University, Tokio, donde se graduó en biología y química orgánica, Yoshiya Watanabe hablaba con fluidez en alemán y en Inglés. Tradujo 'Los crímenes del acordeón "la novela al japonés. Empleado en la industria química con la empresa Mitsui, Yoshiya también vivió en Brasil, donde hizo muchos contactos con acordeonistas. Yoshiya empezó a estudiar acordeón en Hamburgo en 1966, y tocó ambos sistemas: botones y piano. Un hombre hábil y práctico, en 1985 Yoshiya diseñó y construyó lo que pudo haber sido en el mundo del acordeón el primer sintetizador MIDI. Este instrumento tiene sensores de fuelles, y se exhibió en la Exposición Internacional de Ciencias '85 en Tsukuba, Japón. Yoshiya Watanabe también fue el autor de varios libros sobre el acordeón. Yoshiya Watanabe fue un hombre muy querido y respetado por todo aquél que le conoció. Le sobreviven su esposa Kyoko, su hija Sakura y su hijo Taira. |

Mumford & Sons son una banda inglesa de folk-rock entre cuyos miembros encontramos a Ben Lovett como vocalista, acordeonista y teclista. |

El Victoria Accordion Festival será celebrado en Victoria, BC en agosto, el día 16 y 17, justo antes de la celebración de la 66 Coupe Mondiale. El evento está organizado por la BC Accordion Society liderada por su presidente Aleksandar Milojevic (imagen de la derecha), con su esposa (la respetada acordeonista Jelena Milojevic) como ayudante (también en la foto de la derecha). El festival incluye la International Competition of Accordion Orchestras así como las consabidas categorías internacionales para solistas de 10, 14, 18 años y también sin límite de edad tanto para clásico como para popular. El 1er premio para la categoría de orquesta es un acordeón Roland FR-7X V-Accordion y el 2º y 3er premio un acordeón Roland FR-3X V-Accordion. Bob Liddle’s new CD ‘Kale Water’, Scotland – UKby Rob Howard |
‘Kale Water’ is a new CD by accordionist Bob Liddle, featuring original new compositions all in the Scottish idiom and style. Multi-instrumentalist Bob Liddle plays all the instruments on the album, including accordion, guitar, keyboards, drums and bodhran. The title of the CD, ‘Kale Water’, indicates that the them of the music the Kale Water Valley in the Scottish Borders, and as such, the CD is a ‘musical map’ of the area, which rises in the Cheviots near to the English Border and empties, 20 miles later, into the River Teviot at Kalemouth, with all the tunes named after local landmarks or characters, such as ‘The Sandy Ramage Polka’, ‘Grubbit Brig’, ‘The Beirhope Burn’, and ‘The Falls O’ Chatto Linn’. The CD includes an 8-page booklet with photographs of the area, and the sleeve notes to the tunes adds informative and amusing anecdotes giving an insight into country life, past and present, in this rural area. Silhouetten is a contemporary piece containing three movements written for accordion by Jürgen Ganzer. The name of the piece is related to the silhouettes of three composers: J.S.Bach in the 1st movement, B.Bartok in the 2nd, and L.van Beethoven in the 3rd movement. Mia Cojbašic has represented her country (Croatia) at international competitions and is one of the most prominent young classical accordion artists in Croatia. In June 2011, she started her postgraduate studies at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien in Hannover (Germany), where she is studying with prof. Elsbeth Moser. In May 2012., she has been accepted as an exchange student at the Sibelius Academy (Finland, Helsinki), where she will study with the renowned accordion teacher and soloist Mika Väyrynen from September 2012. |

Above is the subversive video-clip for the song "Avec Toi", with lyrics by Rebecca Roussi, remix of Christodoulos Siganos, and the participation of the world known Italian popstar In-Grid. The video-clip is to accompany the success of "Avec Toi - Zoe by In-Grid" and was held with the support of the sponsors Grand Resort Lagonissi and Portioli.gr. The eighth (8) personal album of Zoe Tiganouria entitled "Rockin 'Zoe", is released by Zoe Music Ltd., which emerged from her friendship with the author Evanthia Magni. All the lyrics in the album are bound together and form a single story in the text inside the booklet of the album, entitled "Who are you" by Evanthia (a forerunner of her upcoming book). The CD contains thirteen (13) songs in modern sound, in which Zoe Tiganouria orchestrates and combines Rock moods & Tango, Celtic & Oriental sound colors, and also interprets them with her unique way on the accordion. In this production many famous, and also new upcoming artists, participate such as: Kostas Makedonas, Areti Ketime, Aspasia Theofilou, Nikolas Adespotos, Giannis Moraitis, Konstantinos Romanidis, Stelios Generalis.. Stas Venglevski (picture left) will lead an orchestra of 50 accordionists from the USA, Canada and Italy, in performing a wide variety of beautiful music arranged especially for accordion. Solos and duets will also be on the program. The orchestra members are part of the Mesa Accordion Event, formerly Frank Marocco Accordion Event, which is underway in Mesa, a suburb of Phoenix, Arizona.
