Alexandra Reekie Wins Music Prize, Performances - New Zealandby Harley Jones |

 Multi talented Alexandra Reekie was the 2016 New Zealand Entertainment Accordion Champion and in 2017, has performed a number of times with accordion including last week with pop group Avalanche City (picture above) who have had some No. 1 pop hits in New Zealand. Last week, Alexandra won the top Music Prize at Northcote College Year 11 for her music talents which included performing as a piano soloist Rhapsody in Blue (Gershwin) with the school orchestra. Alexandra is normally the bass player for the Auckland Accordion Symphonietta and in 2017, she was also a soloist. Above is a video of 16 year old Alexandra Reekie excellently performing Rhapsody in Blue a few months ago with the Auckland Accordion Symphonietta conducted by her father, international entertainer, vocalist and teacher Lionel Reekie.
