 The Grammy Awards (originally called the Gramophone Awards) - or Grammys - are presented annually by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences of the USA for outstanding achievements in the music industry. The categories won by accordion playing acts for 2009 include: - Jimmy Sturr gained his 18th Grammy for Best Polka Album, and Sturr’s fourth consecutive win. - Beausoleil avec Michael Doucet won a Grammy for Best Zydeco/Cajun Album. - Los Tigres del Norte won once again for Best Norteño Album. - They Might Be Giants won their second Grammy, this time for ‘Here Come the 123s’, the Best Musical Album for Children. |
