 World Accordion Day, an initiative of the Confederation Internationale des Accordeonistes (CIA) and will be held from 16:30 GMT Tuesday 6th May to 17:00 GMT Tuesday 7th May 2014.This schedule has been chosen to be convenient for every guest and association as they will always be live in afternoons or evenings their time. World Accordion Day will be co-presented by Frederic Deschamps and Grayson Masefield assisted by CIA President Raymond Bodell, CIA Secretary General Kimmo Mattila and CIA Ambassador Kevin Friedrich. The first World Accordion Day held on 6th May 2009, marked the 180th birthday of the accordion when an instrument called 'accordion' was first patented in Vienna in 1829 by Cyrill Damian (picture left). This is the 5th CIA World Accordion Day and the 3rd year to have World Accordion Day celebrated with a 24 hour round the clock, round the world web TV broadcast. Please join us for this annual celebration, as accordionists from around the world pay homage to our wonderful instrument. This global event will serve as an exciting means of bringing us together in our efforts to promote and elevate the awareness and status of the accordion!
