Helen Rich plays Gerald Crossman CD, Manchester - UK

Helen RichHelen Rich has released an excellent solo accordion CD, ‘All hands for'ard’, featuring 18 of the many compositions of Gerald Crossman, who was a long time a leading figure in the post-war British accordion scene. Some are played on a Cooperativa double cassotto 120 bass accordion, and others on a Paolo Soprani 96 bass musette accordion. The tracks include: All hands for'ard, El Pico, BAA March, Annette, Granada Mia, Rancherita, Bohemian Polka, Marcha Espanol, A Night in Montmartre, Dancing Clown, Las Fallas, Brasileira, Fortitude, La Vida Latina, Jolly Jack, Valse Acrobatique, El Valiente, and Gay Time.

The highly accomplished Gerald Crossman (1920-2015) – accordionist, pianist, organist, bandleader, composer, arranger, festival adjudicator, writer, and a former NAO Vice President. He played the accordion in innumerable BBC radio broadcasts, in concerts, on cruise ships, and on TV and in films. His writing included two tutor books for accordion and 200 articles published in accordion magazines. He also worked as pianist for both Charlie Chaplin and Marlene Dietrich in their stage shows.

Manchester-based Helen Rich is an accordionist, pianist and violinist who has performed with distinction at many accordion clubs and festivals in England.
