Nils. O. Lundin (1921-2014), New Hampshire – USA

Nils Olaf Lundin, of Norwell, New Hampshire, died on December 28th, following a brief illness, at the age of 93.

Born in Torsaker, Gavleborg Sweden, in 1921, Lundin’s family emigrated to the USA in 1929. He served in the US army during WWII, and was honorably discharged in 1945 with the rank of Sergeant. Nils then worked at Pneumatic Scale Corp. for 40 years before retiring in 1985 as an Inventory Supervisor.

A highly regarded accordionist and composer, he played as a teenager in the Lundin Brothers Orchestra, which also included brothers Carl and Eric. He did much to promote the preservation of Scandinavian music, which earned him a medal from the King of Sweden in 1981 for his achievements.

He was also awarded the prestigious Elin award - the Swedish equivalent to a Grammy award - for his composition ‘American Wooden Shoe Polka’. Nils Lundin was a long-time and active member of Faith Lutheran Church of Quincy, NH, where he loved to entertain and support various causes. He is widowed and a father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
