Bandoneonist Dale Meyer passed away on June 22nd after a heart attack at the age of only 54. Dale led the groups ‘Parlando’ and ‘Strictly Tango’ and had a motorcycle accident a few years ago. His groups performed regularly in the USA with a program of popular Argentine tango tunes such as ‘La Cumparsita’, ‘El Choclo’, ‘Milonga de mis Amores’, and ‘La Puñalada’ as well as original compositions and pieces by Astor Piazzolla such as ‘Verano Porteño’, ‘Libertango’, ‘La murerte del Angel’, and ‘Oblivion’. He was a very kind and gifted musician.

A memorial was held for Dale in Golden Gate Park and his ashes will be scattered at sea on August 29th with many of his friends and musicians in attendance. There will be music played and his latest recordings will be released with the addition of Mia Jacobson singing in Argentinean dialect on the Tango compositions.

Dale's last performance was at The Cannery in San Francisco on June 16th and the above photo was taken at that concert.

We have included a listing in the Memorials section of Accordions Worldwide.
