Stockport Accordion Club ‘Members’ Night’ Charity Concert, Cheshire – UK

‘Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide’ (SOBS) logoStockport Accordion Club present a ‘Members’ Night’ concert on Wednesday November 12th, 8pm, in aid of the charity ‘Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide’ (SOBS).

Stockport AC has been affected by suicide three times, most recently the shocking and tragic death of Kesia Letherbarrow, the 17-year old accordion playing granddaughter of club member Dorothy Brincat. Previously there was Daniel, the son of local accordionist Ray Peacock, and former SAC member Stuart Thomas, a brilliant accordionist and artist – both victims of severe depression.

SOBS offers group counselling, support groups, retreats, and a national helpline. It is funded through donations and the occasional grant, and all its helpers are volunteers.

Next week’s concert has no booked guest, and all the music will come from the club’s membership.

The list of performers to date includes Dorothy Brincat, Dorothy & Norbert Normile, Pearl Fawcett-Adriano, Phil Watson, Moira Hague, Rob Howard, John Jones, Helen Rich, Chris Green & Betty Molloy, Walter Perrie, Adrienne Sharpe & John Trigg, John Trigg (‘Tribute to Ken Longley’ spot), Stockport AC Quartet, Stockport AC Band (MD Adrienne), Stockport AC Band (MD Derek Stubbs), and the Stockport AC Orchestra (MD Brian Jenkins).

The venue is Woodley Methodist Church, Chapel St, Woodley, Stockport SK6 1NF (Junction 25 on the M60). Admission is £5.
