Célébrations "Erling Grönstedt 100 Years" - Suèdeby Christine Johnstone |

  Photo de droite : Erling Grönstedt prise en 1937, alors qu'il avait 14 ans. Il était le champion junior de Suède. Cet accordéon fait partie de la collection du musée Kramfors avec d'autres objets donnés par la famille Grönstedt.Une célébration "Erling Grönstedt 100 ans" se tiendra à Kramfors, Suède les 28 et 29 juillet 2023 organisée par Jörgen Sundeqvist. Erling Grönstedt (1923-2012), son frère Karl Grönstedt (1912-1983) et les membres du quatuor Hans-Erik Nääs (1910-1984) et Andrew Walter (1914-1978) ont tous grandi dans le même petit village et étaient bien connus et accordéonistes respectés. Tous les quatre ont été inspirés par les accordéonistes italo-américains Pietro Frosini, Pietro et Guido Deiro, Anthony Galla-Rini et Charles Magnante. Ils ont développé leur propre style musical et leur propre façon de jouer de l'accordéon, ce qui les a rendus uniques et célèbres. Ils ont proposé quelque chose de nouveau et une façon plus moderne de jouer et d'écrire de la musique. Erling Grönstedt a également été le premier professeur d'accordéon en Suède et a introduit l'accordéon classique comme un instrument sérieux dans les écoles de musique. Beaucoup d'accordéonistes bien connus en Suède ont été élèves d'Erling Grönstedt. Comme tant d'autres accordéonistes à cette époque, Erling Grönstedt a également déménagé à Stockholm, mais après sa retraite, Erling est revenu à ses racines et a vécu ses 25 dernières années à Kramfors et Ådalen. | Le London Accordion Orchestra (LAO) tiendra un concert conjoint avec le Bavarian State Youth Accordion Orchestra (dirigé par Stefan Hippe) à l'église St. Gabriel à Pimlico, Londres, Angleterre, Royaume-Uni le 3 septembre 2023 de 14h30 à 16h30. Ce concert fait partie d'une série intitulée "Bellows Across Borders". Leur programme comprend de la musique d'Astor Piazzolla, Márquez (Danzon n° 2), une nouvelle pièce du chef d'orchestre de LAO Ian Watson, le célèbre "Pomp and Circumstance" d'Elgar, de la musique de Händel et Tchaïkovski, ainsi que des œuvres originales pour orchestre d'accordéon. L’histoire du AAA est riche avec beaucoup de personnalités, d'événements, de concerts tous organisés pour promouvoir l’instrument.  The Illinois State Music Teachers Association honoured Amy Jo Sawyer with the Foundation Fellow Award for 2023 for making a “significant and substantial impact on the lives of others through music and service”.She received the award at the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Conference held in Reno, Nevada, USA earlier this year. Amy Jo Sawyer has devoted much of her musical career to the accordion. Her concertizing, composing, arranging, and administrative activities, currently President of the Accordionists & Teachers Guild, International (ATG), have enhanced recognition of the accordion as a concert and popular/jazz instrument. Amy Jo has written music for, and performed with, the University of Missouri at Kansas City Accordion Orchestra, under the direction of Joan Sommers, on four international tours. She has performed with the Sacramento and St. Louis Symphonies, including accompanying tenor Luciano Pavarotti. |

 Accordionist Francisco Martins, bachelor student in Music at ESART - Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas IPCB, won the Ex-Aquo Award at the 5th National Contemporary Interpretation Competition on July 1st, 2023.Francisco, student of the accordion class of teacher Paulo Jorge Ferreira competed in the category of "Higher Education" of the competition, which took place at the António Lopes Gallery, in Covilhã, Castelo Branco, Portugal. |

 The 3rd International Accordion Festival Accordiomania 2023 organized by the Accordiomania Art Association and Panayot Pipkov National University was held in Pleven, Bulgaria from June 29th to July 2nd, 2023. Teachers and musicians from Germany, Spain, Moldova, Ukraine, Serbia, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina took part. Results: Classics Category: 1st - Victor Georgiev (Grade 5) and Denislav Banev (Grade 10) I Solo Category: 1st - Iskren Todorov II Solo Category: 1st - Jolanda Otto III Solo Category: 1st - Todor Mijajlovic IV I Solo Category: 1st - Catalin Gusevatîi V Solo Category: 1st - Theodore Marinov VI Variety Category: 1st - Bozhidar Karzhin VIII Chamber Music Category: 1st - Duo Silver tone (Jolanda Otto, Timea Krahl) IX Chamber Music Category: Accordiomania Ensemble (Denislav Banev, Stanislav Neshkov, Maya Todorova, Stanislav Murdzhev, Ivaylo Georgiev) The event also included masterclasses with Raimondas Sviackevicius (Lithuania) and Radu Ratoi (Moldova - picture above left), who also was a member of the jury, presented two workshops and a solo concert. |

 Mary Ann Covone, Accordionists & Teachers Guild, International (ATG)President was featured in the Sigma Alpha Iota quarterly journal Pan Pipes. The article tells about Mary Ann’s journey with the accordion, beginning with a historical review of the popular “heyday” of the accordion in the 1940-1970’s, her decision to attend University of Missouri Kansas City Conservatory of Music to study accordion performance with Joan Cochran Sommers, returning to accordion after a 30-year career as an attorney, and then becoming president of the ATG.The article also gives an excellent short story of the history of the ATG, the recent and coming festival, the value of the ATG syllabus, and the establishing of her Chicagoland Accordion Academy. The Pan Pipes journal was distributed to just under 10,000 professional musicians, professors, teachers and music students in colleges and universities. | “Foleada”, which includes accordionists Jamie Maschler and Gabe Hall-Rodrigues, will perform at the annual Festa Junina, held at Om Culture in Seattle, Washington, USA on July 8th, 2023 from 5pm. Festa Junina celebrates the harvest season in Brazil. Dancing is an important part of the celebrations and is centered around the quadrilha, a typical Festa Junina dance accompanied by live Forró music by Foleada, with DJ Tomás “spinning great music during band breaks”. Attendees can expect Brazilian Square Dancing, Xaxado performance (full costume) by Bahia in-Motion, fun games for children and much more. Children 12 and under are free of charge. Un magnifique arrangement jazz pour accordéon free-bass par Joseph Natoli, enregistré en octobre 2018 à la Bartell Music Academy à Spokane, aux États-Unis.Le festival Accordionists & Teachers Guild, International (ATG) 2023 se tiendra du 19 au 23 juillet 2023 à Lisle, Chicago, USA, Les artistes invités viennent du monde entier, comme Grayson Masefield de Nouvelle-Zélande, qui présentera la dernière composition de Gorka Hermosa (photo de gauche) intitulée "Meditatio". Parmi les autres interprètes figurent le Duo Kollektiv (Autriche), l'orchestre Polyphonia (île de la Réunion), Nikolay Bine (Canada), Stas Venglevski (États-Unis) et le (UMKC) Community Accordion Chamber Ensemble, dirigé par Joan Sommers (États-Unis). Cette année, Kevin Friedrich sera accompagné de l'organiste Tony Payne (professeur associé de musique, directeur des programmes spéciaux et des séries d'artistes au Wheaton College), de Ron Dake (accordéon basse) et de Nathaniel Holman (percussions) pour interpréter une œuvre intitulée "Dargaville Impressions" du célèbre accordéoniste et compositeur anglais Ian Watson.   "Meet the Musician Behind the Sound" est une nouvelle série d'interviews avec des accordéonistes jeunes et émergents afin que vous puissiez mieux les connaître. Les Collaboratrices réalisant les entretiens sont Adele Pirozzolo et Andrea Di Giacomo.L'interview de Romuald Lefebvre maintenant publié a été réalisé par Andrea Di Giacomo. Romuald Lefebvre s'est produit avec l'Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France en 2017. Il enseigne également au Conservatoire de Calais et de Boulogne-Sur-Mer. Soucieux du développement de l'accordéon, il fut l'un des fondateurs de l'Association des Professeurs du Haut de France. Il enregistre 2 albums solo, "Eclectique" en 2013 et "Toccata" en 2014.
