Donna Maria Regis NHAA Concert, New Hampshire – USAby Rob Howard |
New Hampshire Accordion Association [NHAA] is pleased to announce the first in a series of three monthly concerts showcasing the versatility of the accordion. On April 20th concert accordionist Donna Maria Regis will play a potpourri of music – semi-classical, vintage rock ’n roll, tango, movie themes, waltzes, polkas, selections from the great American songbook, novelty and ethnic tunes – to illustrate some of the many capabilities of the instrument. A graduate of New England Conservatory and Brown University, Donna Maria Regis is Music Director of New Hampshire Accordion Association. She is co-founder and Artistic Director of ACCORDIONS NOW! Music Festival as well as conductor of the ACCORDIONS NOW! Festival Orchestra. During a 2011 tour of the Midwest she was honored to become the first female artist to present a solo concert at A World of Accordions Museum in Superior, Wisconsin. TV highlights of her performance and a pre-concert interview were aired on ABC, CBS, and Fox affiliates. In Boston, her appearance at New England Conservatory’s 2009 alumni weekend generated waves of enthusiastic appreciation for the accordion. Earlier, maestro Carmen Carrozza personally invited her to be the featured artist at the 2008 Carrozza Scholarship event in New York. More recently, she performed in Orlando as a soloist and as conductor of the 2012 Florida SMASH orchestra. The public is invited to attend the April 20th Regis concert without charge. Seating is limited. Free registration in advance is recommended. Other upcoming concerts at NHAA: May 18th – Catfish Howl Blues Band June 22nd – Arthur Welch All performances begin at 1pm as part of NHAA’s monthly meetings, which are held at Accordion Connection LLC, Gilmanton, NH.
