Punk accordionist Malcolm Tent to play at Elephant Talk, Atlantic City – USA

Malcolm TentMalcolm Tent, a rock ‘n’ roll and punk accordionist, has been in show business for almost 40 years and has recently released a greatest hits album. “It was easy to do a greatest hits. I’ve been recording for years, and there’s a lot of good material there,” he says of his album.

Tent is one of the featured performers at the upcoming Elephant Talk Indie Music Festival, running on Friday and Saturday, August 4th and 5th at the Boneyard Bar & Grill, 20 South Virginia Ave, Atlantic City.

Elephant Talk is an offshoot of Elephants for Autism, and over 40 bands will lend their talent to the cause over the two-day festival. Tent’s set will begin 7.30pm on Friday.

For those unfamiliar with Tent’s particular brand of rock, expect the accordion to take centre stage, no matter who’s playing behind him. “Right now I’m solo, but when I have a band they usually back me up,” he explains. “Even in a punk rock band, the accordion is the centerpiece. Not to belittle all the musicians that have played with me. They’re all are excellent.

In fact, I’m always the worst musician of them. But it’s not about musical virtuosity, but that (the accordion) sometimes can prompt more excitement than anything else.”
