International Accordion Music Festival, Przemyśl – Polandby Rob Howard |
The 21st International Accordion Music Festival in Przemysl, Poland, takes place from December 12th to 15th. This year is its 21st birthday! The Festival begins with a performance by Marcin Wyrostek, accompanied by an eminent Polish vocalist, Kayah, and the ensemble Coloriage. This year also marks the 70th birthday of Wladyslaw Zolotariew. One of the concerts will be devoted to his work. Daniel Lis and Leszek Kolodziejski, highly regarded younger generation Polish accordionists will give a performance during the concert ‘Muzyka i Przeznaczenie’ (Music and Destination). The Finale Concert will be an excellent event for accordion lovers. Wieslaw Przadka will give a performance of his newest project ‘Tres Tangueros’, presenting the many faces of tango. The Final Concert will be dedicated to Astor Piazolla, as the 20th anniversary of his death falls this year. Traditionally, the accordion competition is organised for a wide group of players in five age categories and includes a light music category. The participants will be judged by an international jury.
