‘The Big Squeeze’ takes place on Friday April 6th at Pick-Staiger Concert Hall, Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois. This event, which includes a demonstration/lecture followed by a concert involving top class international accordionists representing various genres. At 4.30pm the ‘Accordion Demonstration and Lecture’ features Julien Labro (jazz and South American), Alexander Sevastian (classical), Jimmy Keane (Irish traditional), and Dwayne Dopsie (Zydeco) guiding the audience through a variety of genres in this demonstration and lecture. The concert, which begins at 7.30pm, will feature Julien Labro (France) performing jazz with alto saxophonist Jon Irabagon and tango (on bandoneón) supported by the Spektral String Quartet; Jimmy Keane of Chicago performing Irish music with support from guitarist Dennis Cahill; and Alexander Sevastian (Belarus) performing classical music.
