| Vidéo : Festival Beltango & Friends 2023. Le Beltango Quintet fêtera son 25e anniversaire avec un "Beltango & Friends Festival" au Ethno Village Stanisici à Bijeljina, Bosnie-Herzégovine du 29 juin au 3 juillet 2023. Le groupe Beltango, qui connaît un énorme succès, a fait plus de 1 200 concerts et s'est rendu dans plus de 30 pays au cours de ses 25 années de tournée. Le festival sera une « Big Balkan Tango Party » d'ateliers, de concerts, d'expositions et de grandes milongas, avec des artistes internationaux profitant de 5 jours « pleins de musique, de danse, de convivialité et d’hospitalité, de bonne gastronomie, de détente et de gaieté ». Les membres du groupe sont : le leader Aleksandar Nikolic (bandonéon), Ivana Nikolic (piano et chant), Antonija Barna (violon), Bogdan Pejic (guitare) et Petar Holik (contrebasse). | Le 60e Concours international d'accordéon de Klingenthal se tiendra à Klingenthal, en Allemagne, du 7 au 13 mai 2023. Le concours comprend des catégories d'âge pour les solistes, les duos d'accordéon, les trios d'accordéon et les groupes. Les musiciens de toutes nationalités et citoyennetés peuvent participer au concours. Les inscriptions se clôturent le 31 janvier 2023. | Vidéo : Nathan & the Zydeco Cha Chas au Louisiana Cajun Zydeco Festival en 2021 Nathan et les Zydeco Cha-Cha ont été nominés pour un Grammy lors de la 65e cérémonie annuelle des Grammy Awards qui se tiendra à la Crypto.com Arena de Los Angeles le 5 février 2023. L'événement récompensera les meilleurs enregistrements, compositions et artistes de l'année d'éligibilité qui va 1er octobre 2021 au 30 septembre 2022. La catégorie est : Meilleur album de racines régionales de l'année "Nathan a formé The Cha-Chas en 1985. Il a été intronisé au Louisiana Music Hall of Fame en 2005 et a été honoré l'année dernière avec le Life time Achievement Award de la Zydeco Music Association. Les Cha-Chas ont été élus meilleur groupe de festival du pays et ont remporté le prix très convoité Big Easy du meilleur groupe Zydeco pendant plusieurs années consécutives. |

 Photo ci-dessus : prise en 2018 lorsque Rino Galassi et sa femme Vanda travaillaient encore quotidiennement à l'usine. Photographié ici avec son fils Renzo.Rino Galassi (28 septembre 1928 - 09 novembre 2022) est décédé à l'âge de 94 ans. Il a commencé la production de soufflets peu après la fin de la Seconde Guerre mondiale en 1948, alors qu'il avait 20 ans. Il voulait ouvrir sa propre entreprise en travaillant comme artisan dans la construction d'accordéons. À cette époque, il était beaucoup plus facile de créer sa propre entreprise. Ainsi, il a commencé à apprendre la fabrication de soufflets d'accordéon. Comme il vivait à Osimo Stazione où deux usines de fabrication de soufflets se trouvaient à proximité, il avait un accès facile. Ces producteurs comme la plupart des producteurs de l'époque, travaillaient au rez-de-chaussée de la maison, la famille vivant à l'étage. La maison était le lieu de travail et de production, ce qui signifiait être "toujours prêt à travailler, en cas de besoin". Rino s’est construit un atelie r et après six mois, il a eu l'audace de défier le monde avec sa propre production de soufflets. Rino a transmis toutes ses connaissances à sa femme Vanda et à ses deux fils Renzo et Reno. Condoléances à toute la famille Galassi d'Accordions Worldwide.  Le CNIMA dirigé par Nathalie Boucheix tiendra son dernier stage d'accordéon 2022 du 19 au 23 décembre encadré par Jacques Mornet et Nathalie Boucheix (photo de gauche).L'atelier s'adresse à tous les âges, niveaux et styles. Cet atelier permettra aux participants de développer leur technique instrumentale avec la Méthode Jacques Mornet.  On November 26th, the HotScotch Ceilidh Band (pictured above) led by accordionist Paul Chamberlain (picture left) performed at the Ross Bandstand in Edinburgh’s Princes Street Gardens for an outdoor family ceilidh as part of the launch of Edinburgh’s Christmas Festival. Paul has just recently been able to return to performing after a successful heart transplant at the end of January 2022 following several years on the organ transplant waiting list and now is looking forward to resuming his varied performance schedule both as a soloist and in a number of ensembles. On January 12th, 2023, Paul will play with The Scottish Tango Ensemble (picture below) at the Kings Pavilion in Aberdeen for a concert organised by the Aberdeen University Music Department. The Scottish Tango Ensemble, which features Paul Chamberlain (accordion), Gemma O’Keefe (violin), Gregor Blamey (piano) and Tom Berry (double bass), will perform a programme featuring a mixture of traditional salon tangos, the music of Astor Piazzolla, as well as the group’s own arrangements of more modern artists. |

 The latest updated and expanded article was originally published in 2004 as part of my annual series discussing AAA music commissions carried out by Elsie Bennet, beginning in 1957 with Paul Creston’s Prelude and Dance. It examines the fifteenth and sixteenth commissions, Aria, Scherzo, and Finale, for accordion and orchestra (1961), by Louis B. Gordon, and Night Music, for accordion and string quartet (1964), by David Diamond. The updated webpage article provides deeper analytical information than the original print version, greatly aided by the new addition of musical examples. This aural feature will continue to be employed in future updated articles where no recording is available. |

| The Lilburn Lecture 2022 was recorded by Radio New Zealand (RNZ) on November 2nd, 2022 (the anniversary of Douglas Lilburn’s birth) at the Tiakiwai Conference Centre, National Library of New Zealand in Wellington, New Zealand. The event was hosted by the Lilburn Trust and the Alexander Turnbull Library. RNZ featured the following report on the event: For the ninth annual Lilburn Lecture, composer and Arts Laureate Ross Harris dove deep into his own musical past, sharing colourful snapshots from his life and career. He called his lecture The Endless Search for the Next Note: An Outline of a Composing Life from an Unlikely Beginning to an Unlikely Present. From a 'salt of the earth' family with little interest in arts or culture, Ross emerged as a largely self-taught composer. He talks about his early childhood obsession with sound, learning by example from Lilburn in the 1970s as he listened to him wrestle sounds out of the primitive equipment in the Victoria University Electronic Music Studio, collaborating with writers Witi Ihimaera and Vincent O’Sullivan (who gives the Vote of Thanks at the end of Ross's lecture), tackling symphonies - seven so far, the freedom of composing and performing Klezmer music, and much more. Ross illustrates his stories with a generous selection of musical excerpts from all throughout his career. Ross Harris (pictured above) is a member of the popular group The Kugels, who performed at the event. |

For this concert, Sam will be joined by Ben Flocks (saxophone), Shawn Meyers (drums) and Giulio Xavier Cetto (bass).
