Stockport Accordion Club Charity Concert, Cheshire – UKby Rob Howard |
The members of Stockport Accordion Club raised over £600 in aid of The Christie Appeal on October 30th in their concert at Woodley Methodist Church, Stockport. A full house audience enjoyed a wide variety of music, including French musette, Latin, classical, folk, movie themes, Scottish, Irish, and accordion specialities. SAC President Pearl Fawcett-Adriano brought the evening to a rousing finish with a LaVie Parisienne/Can Can medley. Performing solo spots were Rob Howard, Derek Stubbs, Dorothy Brincat, Moira Hague, John Higham, John Jones, Brennan Wilson, Derek Pritchard, Phil Watson, Helen Rich, Pearl Fawcett-Adriano. There were spots from the Stockport AC Band (MD Derek Stubbs), Tameside Junior Accordion Band (MD Rachel White), and the Stockport AC Orchestra (Brian Jenkins). Duet spots involved Leo Hickey/John Curvis, Helen Rich/Derek Pritchard, Norbert Normile/Dorothy Brincat, Tony Ainscough/John Trigg, Chris Green/Betty Pollard, and Pearl Fawcett-Adriano/Phil Watson. There were three quartet spots, from Accordions a la Carte, Scottish Quartet, and the Romiley Quartet. The Christie is one of the world's leading cancer treatment and research hospitals.
