46th International Accordion Competition, Klingenthal – Germanyby Holda Paoletti-Kampl |
It is May and therefore time for the International Accordion Competition in Klingenthal. This world-class event takes place for the 46th time, and from May 8th to 14th Klingenthal will host contestants from all over the world. Currently, there are 98 applications for participants from 24 countries, with most participants registered from Serbia, Russia and France. Very pleasing is that there are registrations in all categories (except Bandoneon) including also applications from Germany – with four entries from the Free State of Saxony. In category II, there is even a young local accordion soloist: Marie-Luise Kuhnert, from Zwota. She studies at the Robert Schumann Conservatory in Zwickau. Competitors and visitors also will have the opportunity to meet with local accordion manufacturing craftsmen in the trade show area. All competitions are open to the public. In addition, each year the Annual General Meeting of the Friends of the International Accordion Competitions in Klingenthal is taking place with members including well-known soloists, music educators and composers from all over the world. |
