Frank Angelis Seminar Introduces New Work 'Beijing'

Those attending this seminar in Tianjin, China, by Frank Angelis (France) had a big surprise. Franck Angelis had decided to make this seminar, the anouncement of his new work 'Beijing'. The new work will be available online from MusicForAccordion.com on Tuesday 9th October. Catalog: ang567
The new work has been written for Tian Jianan (of Beijing), winner of numerous international competitions including 2 weeks ago, the under 18 years concert category in Castelfidardo.
Her teacher Cao Xiao Qing was the translator for the seminar.
Frank Angelis used the accordion, the piano, his voice, all to talk about his music and his enthusiasm for the accordion.
Tian Jianan had only started learning the new work the last few days with Franck Angelis, and with her amazing skills, was already able to play the work for the seminar.

This event began with an afternoon competition with 17 contestants and then is followed by a Roland concert.
The competition, was held on the 13th floor of the large music conservatory building, one of several buildings for the conservatory. Note all the building cranes which were only one part of a huge amount of building of new homes in the Tianjin city area.
The Jury for the Digital category were (left to right): Yang Chunhong, Li Xiaoqi, Chang Cheng, Zhu Jingbai, Zhang Xiaobo, Li Lan Feng, Lu Xiao Ling. The Digital Accordion category, had some 17 contestants performing. The audience heard music from techo punk, pop to Baroque classical as the 17 different players performed to impress the jury of 7 well known Chinese teachers.

He Qian performing. This competition was also the Roland China Qualifications for the 6th Roland International Competition being held in Rome in November. Following the competition was a concert and then a Roland dinner, at which Roland China President Cheng Jian Tong announced contestant Hi Qian (winner of the 2009 Coupe Mondiale Piano Accordion category, picture lower left) had won the trip to Rome to represent China at the Roland International Festival in November.

Roland V-Accordion Art Festival Concert

After the Digital accordion category, I walked to the nearby hall for the Roland V-Accordion Concert and on the way, met Cheng Yuhan who I had met last year in Castelfidardo, with her father Cheng Chong. Compere for the concert was Digital accordion expert Zhu Jingbai, Assoc. Prof. at Tianjin Musical Conservatory, China.
