Competition Rules

Alessandro Cantagallo Manuel Piccioni
Competitions were held in the morning. Category F (solo, up to 12 years) had two contestants. Alessandro Cantagallo played first and Manuel Piccioni played second.

Daniele Rossi was the Roland demonstrator and opened the concert with a variety of musical styles. Mirco Patarini and compere opened the official presentations of the evening concert.

Mirco Patarini presents the trophy to Manuel Piccioni for winning category F, 12 years and under. Category D, Junior Variete, Matteo Petronio (Italy) performed.

Category C, Variete winner, Pietro Adragna (Italy) performed to popular applause. Category A winner Ivan Sverko (Croatia) performed to similar very strong applause.

Mirco Patarini, Raymond Bodell and the compere talk about the 2012 Coupe Mondiale being held in Spoleto during August next year. The big tango concert "Homage to Astor Piazzolla's" led by Caesare Chiacchiaretta on bandoneon began.

The group Cuarteto del Angel took the stage. Cesare Chiacchiaretta (bandoneon and accordion), Paolo Angelucci (violin), Marco Colacioppo (piano) and Nicola Di Camillo (double bass). The group had a great sound and they were also joined by Brunella Franceschini and Giuseppe Benigni, ballet dancers from the association Naharia on stage. The dancers were dancing both Milonga and Tango. Here they dance the famous tango, Oblivion by Piazzolla, with Caesare on accordion. Caesare performed on bandoneon for most of the concert.

The group was popular and received strong applause, taking many bows at the end of the concert.

UK flag A highlight of the Strumenti & Musica Festival will be the big tango concert "Homage to Astor Piazzolla's" led by Cesare Chiacchiaretta on bandoneon, one of the great performers of works by Piazzolla. This concert takes place at Caius Melissus on Sunday (at 21.30) for the final concert of the Strumenti & Musica Festival which is dedicated to the accordion.

To this music, Brunella Franceschini and Giuseppe Benigni, ballet dancers from the association Naharia will dance with passion and transform the stage at Caio Melisso into a Milonga.

During the evening, Chiacchiaretta will receive the "Astor Piazzolla" award from Instrumenti & Musica presented by Aldo Pagani, Italian publisher of the Piazzolla music. The evening will also include the announcement of the competition winners and the names of the contestants who will be sponsored to represent Italy at the 2011 Coupe Mondiale to be held in Shanghai at the beginning of October.

Italy flag Il momento clou del Festival coinciderà domani con il grande concerto di tango “Omaggio ad Astor Piazzolla” del bandoneonista Cesare Chiacchiaretta, uno dei maggiori esecutori europei dei brani di Piazzolla, che si svolgerà al Caio Melisso domenica (ore 21.30) in occasione della chiusura della kermesse dedicata alla fisarmonica.

Sulle sue note, danzeranno Brunella Franceschini e Giuseppe Benigni, ballerini dell’associazione Naharia che, con la loro passione trasformeranno, il palco del Melisso in una milonga. Nel corso della serata, Chiacchiaretta riceverà il premio “Astor Piazzolla” assegnato da Strumenti&Musica e da Aldo Pagani, editore italiano dello stesso Piazzolla.

Avverrà, inoltre, la proclamazione dei vincitori delle categorie partecipanti al concorso con l'annuncio dei ragazzi che rappresenteranno l'Italia alla Coupe Mondiale che si terrà a Shanghai il prossimo ottobre.

He has given concerts for the most prestigious concert societies in Italy and other countries such as France, Russia, Hungary, Austria, Slovenia, Switzerland, Germany, Mexico, Croatia, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Holland, Spain ....

Italy flag Cesare Chiacchiaretta, fisarmonicista e bandoneonista, si dedica da sempre con dedizione alla musica di Astor Piazzolla della quale è un profondo conoscitore ed uno dei maggiori esecutori d'Europa. Ha tenuto concerti per le più prestigiose società concertistiche in Italia e all’estero (Francia, Russia, Ungheria, Austria, Slovenia, Svizzera, Germania, Messico, Croazia, Slovenia, Rep. UK flag Cesare Chiacchiaretta has won the most important national and some international competitions for solo and chamber performance, and has performed as soloist with major orchestras and conductors.

Among the collaborations, of particular importance, is with Maestro Riccardo Muti at the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome with the Orchestra Sinfonica "L. Cherubini", the Kaunas Chamber Orchestra of Lithuania conducted by Pavel Berman and the Orchestra Vox Aurae directed by famous master Cuban Leo Brouwer.
