Milen Slavov, born in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria is an award-winning composer, arranger, conductor, performer, teacher and vocalist. He graduated in 1987 from Bulgaria's most prestigious musical institute "The Phillip Koutev School" in Kotel, then furthered his studies with a year at the Musical Pedagogical Conservatory in Plovdiv. His repertoire includes Bulgarian traditional, East European, classical, contemporary, gypsy and improvisational styles.

Milen's awards include the 1995 Songwriting Award form the Chudomirovi Praznici Competition, the Outstanding Student Award from the Koutev Music School in 1994 and a Gold Medal for Folk Song Performance from the 1981 Koprivshtica Bulgarian National Folk festival.

Milen has lived and performed in the United States since 1997 and is working on a book / CD package of Bulgarian accordion music . He lives in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he performs, teaches and composes.

This recording is for lovers of Bulgarian Folk Music as it contains purely Bulgarian Folk Music in traditional and contemporary styles, composed by Milen Slavov himself.

Milen performs technically demanding folk pieces with great ease and clarity. His feeling and understanding of Bulgaria's music heritage is enormous and it shows through in this CD, for which he wrote and arranged all the music.

Use of the traditional Bulgarian instruments, traditional folk singing and melodies, would make this recording a real gift to lovers of Bulgarian Folk Music.
