Mika Vayrynen, born in 1967 in Helsinki, Finland, is no doubt one of the leading Finish accordionists as well as one of the most actively performing accordion artists of his generation.
Mika's achievements are quite impressive. He has won two major international competitions for accordion soloists: 1985 in Klingenthal (Junior) and the 1989 Coupe Mondiale (Senior). Mika obtained his Masters degree in 1992 and his Doctoral degree in 1997. He has recorded a huge repertoire on 6 CD's and has been invited to perform, conduct master classes and adjudicate in many countries around the world. He is also working very actively with composers in order to get new literature for the accordion.

Now to the CD - what a magnificent performance! Mika is no doubt a Master of the classical accordion in every sense of the word, as well as a musician of the highest calibre.

Mika's choice of the repertoire for this recording is definitely impressive. He presents himself with these huge musical paintings, where as well as reaching psychological deepness, he performs with an incredible sense of oneness, stem of thoughts, visions, pictures, shades….. At the same time, each movement is performed with its own character, leaving the listener completely consumed in to the musical idea by the power of this exceptional performance.

As a performer and musician, Mika has that rare ability to take and lead a listener into the musical world of the pieces he performs. I have to make a remark on Mika's absolute technical brilliance as well as on his magnificent musical control during the performance.

Remarkable, an incredibly powerful performance!
