What a remarkable recording!

As I listen to Pawel performing, memories pass through my mind to the time when I was present at many of his concerts and what a tremendous experience it was to listen to him live! He was and still is a player to remember. This recording proves just that!

Pawel is a musician and an artist of the highest calibre. As well as being technically brilliant, his performances are 'charged' with incredible inner energy and strength. At the same time it is so emotional and stylistically refined that you find yourself being deeply touched and moved.

It is so evident that he deeply understands the music he performs, all the different styles and approaches and as a result his performance is very convincing, through the musical language he makes you believe him.

On this recording (from a live concert in Hannover) we can hear a spectre of styles. He opens with Vivaldi's "Summer" from the Four Seasons, which he has brilliantly arranged for the solo bayan. I believe he has done justice to the instrument. With a refined approach to the style, together with a tonally colourful arrangement he makes quite an impression on the listener. He is also equally good at performing huge musical paintings like Bach's Prelude and Fugue in G minor, as well as Baroque miniatures by Rameau and Dandrieu. With such special charm and technical ease, he performs Brahms and Sarasate while modern bayan composers like Runtchak, Bobitch and Beloshicky sound very powerful and deep.

This is a truly brilliant performance, of which I cannot talk about highly enough.
