The 49th Coupe Mondiale International Competition for Accordion Soloists took place from 16th to 20th October 1996 in Dunajska Streda, Slovakia, and was organised by the Methodical Centre for Accordion which is part of Bratislava State Conservatory.

This CD was recorded live in concert halls of Dunajska Streda, during the competition.

The Coupe Mondiale International Competition for Accordion Soloists (CIA) is one of the major international accordion competitions. Traditionally, performance standard at this competition is extremely high and this CD proves just that.

Presented are Laureates of the competition from all the categories: junior, senior and virtuoso entertainment. They all are performers of the highest calibre, and although some of them are still students, they are already professional performers. Not only do they show high technical skills, but what is especially impressive is the artistic presentation.

This recording is pleasant proof that performance standards on the accordion are constantly growing and improving.
