Keepin' it Reel

KODA
Artist
24 July 2009

The group known as KODA is comprised of 8 Accordions, Bass and Keyboards. Bagpipes, Drums, Fiddle, Percussion, Piano, Pipe Snare, and Vocals for a total of 15 young players from South Scotland and, believe me, these players have an infectious energy about them!

The recording was made in Glasgow and must have been made by engineers, producers, and photographers who enjoyed it as much as all the musicians.

They just seemed to play so naturally together with everyone relishing all the music and having a wonderful time while doing so. I enjoyed listening to the music and you will, too, for it is fun and well-played.

Quite honestly, my own musical background hasn't included all these pieces except upon occasion during travels here and yon. But it didn't matter that I didn't know the words to the songs or every line of the music myself; what mattered was that I appreciated the spirit and love of traditions so obviously shared throughout every track.

For those of you who wish to "attend" a wonderful Scottish Evening, put on your dancing shoes, have a refreshment or two, and just have one great evening with your friends, this CD is the new one for you to buy. There is enough variety in the pieces to keep you quite satisfied, whether dancing or resting, for a lovely evening together. You may even want to play it again several times in one evening!

You'll find several reels, two steps, waltzes, and rags among the happy and melodic repertoire. The band has a website: www.kodamusic.com and an e-mail for more information at: info@kodamusic.com

Buy it and have a rollicking good time with your friends! It is the kind of music you need to share with them.
