CD Review

"Passions" DVD (73 minutes) ...all the images in this DVD and VHS were filmed in Africa, in the mountains and in the Beaujolais region.
Jean Louis Noton, produced by Jean-Michel Legros
Distribution: SARL TITO
19 December 2003

In this DVD the life and the emotions of a man (not of a “martian” - even if we sometimes joke with Jean Louis himself about being the greatest “galaxy champion” on earth); of a man – an accordion-man who seems addicted to his accordion.

The music of this DVD is not at all theme music of the adventures of Noton, but these pieces, always bright and positive, many times strongly infusing you with aboriginal sound from the places Noton has visited, a sure legacies to his emotions.

All his works in this DVD are dedicated to his children and the combination of images taken from his life and melodies played on the accordion or accordina (melodica) display his strong and affective energy. From the musical point of view you will find a sparkling and melodic Noton full of excellent inspiration.

The listener will surely be surprised by the contrasting sound between the tracks 15 and 16. "The Dance of the Camels” performed together with many different arts of African drums in “wild” sonority and “Sex-accordion” the most European sounding piece, that can easily be declared “for discotheques”.

With a tribute to the great Carlos Santana, Noton shows the great versatility of his electronic instrument, and with “Bakine” he introduces special places of world music.

Prepare yourselves to participate in all the following emotions: climbing a mountain, watching beautiful girls dance in a provoking way, drinking a glass of good wine, flying to Africa, admiring flowers and exotic plants, assisting the installation of electric light in the cultural center Bakine of CAP Skirring, travelling along different roads - busy European ones and other roads without traffic and smiling people, entering into the barber's shop of Kafountine, visiting an African village, playing and fishing on a colourful painted boat, participating in a Mass in an exotic place with alternation between aboriginal and sacred popular songs, and so on…..
