There is only one concession to the old style; Tritsch Tratsch Polka of Johann Strauss. Pardonable....as it is surely a piece of great effect especially with this combination of 6 accordions - the transcription is defending itself very well.

Highest marks for the rest of their repertoire. I found that the opening selections were really very well written (Jan Van Der Roost and Ferenc Farkas) in a popular style. The Dutch composer "Rikudim " creates four true jewels of Jewish folk dances; the Hungarian Farkas get inspired by the folklore of his own country, that have become famous through the studies of known composers of the 20th century.

There is then the section of original music, where the Joke of Fugazza (one of his best pieces) is and the mythical "Rondò Capriccioso" of Vladislav Zolotariov (written for the Trio of the Urals, here in doubled version) full of style among cultured and extra-cultured elements with the inevitable piece of the Dies Iræ right in the middle. Of course Astor Piazzolla could in no way be left off this CD and Undertango and Meditango are recorded.

The leader, Giorgio Dellarole has a lot of concert and compilation of programs experience. Eccezion for Dellarole, currently a Conservatory teacher (the others members are not professionals of music), but that makes the dimension of amore' for the tool that has been of certain stimulus to the realization of this disk, besides the consolidated understanding of the group, that he/she works for years already.

I desire to spend the last words of this reveiw concerning the dedication of the CD: Fabio Carrozza has been part of the group and it is dedicated to his tragic and premature death in 1998; I would like to remember him on the stage of the winners of the Contest "Città di Castelfidardo" of 1997 - lifting - smiling - the trophy with the others - his companions. Today Fabio Carrozza is fittingly remembered using an absolute medium: the music.
