After putting aside a couple of CD's that were not suitable for reviewing, for this week I decided to review another recording of Zoltan's. I suppose, I too am entitled to my favourites and in this genre Zoltan would be one of my favourite accordionists.

As you can see on the tracks listed - some of the most popular French chansons are presented on this recording. But, unlike most of the accordion CD's that I've heard where they are recorded on solo accordion empowered with the Midi system, this time they are performed on the acoustic accordion and acoustic guitar with a vocalist. I personally, love the acoustic instruments being used and this recording is going 'right up my alley' in that regard.

Another interesting aspect of this recording is the absence of a leading role in the band, so to speak. In other words, no artist in this ensemble stands out as a leading part of the band. The way they came across to me is that the accordion, guitar and a vocalist have an equal role in the band, so they compliment and fulfil each other. Therefore, although vocal is in each track, I didn't have a feeling like I am listening to the vocalist with the accordion or the guitar somewhere in the background.

Even the guitar - although it gives mostly harmonic and rhythmic foundation, the sound is mixed in a way that it brings it up nicely. Its warm tone does add to the pleasantness of the whole sound picture.

Style wise, it was obvious to me that the performers are mature musicians with developed musical taste. Zoltan in particular, is a fine accordionist, his style is warm and mellow, yet present and competent.

This recording is a real treat, I enjoyed it immensely. *****
