CD cover Here is another recording of the Rizol's Quartet - the first one was reviewed on January 18th 2002 and includes information about the Quartet and its members.

This CD is entitled "Astor Piazzolla" as it contains Piazzolla's works exclusively, arranged for the accordion quartet by Slava Samofalov. It was recorded live in the Column Hall of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine on September 19th, 1999.

Individually, members of the Rizol's Quartet are professionals, musicians with exquisite taste, and as a whole, the quartet is a unique musical unit. Their sophistication, their passionate, delicate musical approach, and the volume of their emotions are an amazing musical experience for the listener. Their special brand of intelligent emotionalism reaches its zenith here: it's deep, resonant and splendid! It is clear to me that this quartet earns its fans in a time-honoured way: they play for the audience, they reach and touch the audience.

Their interpretation of Piazzolla is most appealing to me personally as it is vibrant and so much alive, with that inner dynamics and drive in the slow sections, as well as passionate. It also has that special sound volume to it, as it is performed by the quartet with some percussions and sounds really impressive.

This recording is an absolute musical treat and I highly recommend that you hear it for yourself. *****
