Goran Kovacevic, born in 1971 in Switzerland, has been studying the accordion with professor Hugo Noth at the state academy for music in Trossingen from 1991-1996 where he completed his postgraduate studies too. Goran has won several awards at International accordion competitions, and performs solo as well as with symphony and chamber orchestras.

Goran has chosen a very interesting and unusual structure of the program for this recording: it starts with a contemporary piece, followed by baroque and classical pieces (Frescobaldi, Haydn, Mozart), then to round it off another modern piece.

The first Piece "Melodia" was written by modern Japanese composer Toshio Hosokawa, who writes: "It was my aim to make accessible a new dimension of sounds, when I composed "Melodia" for the accordion in 1979. Strictly avoiding the normal accordion tone, I had in mind to create a world in which the pure sounds of the upper registers confront the cruel ones of the lower ones and are connected with each other in endangered harmony". This effect the composer wanted to create was achieved through Goran's great tonal control, inner hearing and imagination.

My first impression about the baroque and classical pieces is that the performer possesses unquestionable tonal culture and profound understanding for the style and its inner dynamics while performing technically sound. In general, this recording is, no doubt, proof of Goran's performing culture in all the aspects of the word.
