El pasado lunes 22 de Junio, Matth Hohner AG celebró su 100 aniversario como compañía `Joint-stock´ (Sociedad anónima). Especialmente en tiempos de crisis económica, este aniversario cobra una especial importancia dado que representa un símbolo de permanencia muy atractivo para muchos empresarios, políticos y periodistas en general. Hohner fue fundado en 1857, y desde 1909 ha sido una compañía `Joint-stock´, la cual fue en su momento un nuevo e innovador tipo de empresa. 50 años más tarde, Hohner entendió necesario un cambio para una nueva estructura de negocios, y el 22 de junio de 1909, la compañía Matthias Hohner fue transformada en una del tipo `Joint-stock´ asentándose en el distrito comercial de Oberamt Spaichingen.
Actalmente, la mayoría de la participación empresarial permanece al HS Investment Group Inc. Matt. Hohner AG es una compañía `holding´ con cinco empresas subsidiarias. Dos de ellas son Alemanas: Hohner Musikinstrumente GmbH & Co. KG enTrossingen y Sonor GmbH & Co. KG en Bad Berleburg, la cual desarrolla, produce y comercializa mundialmente los productos de Hohner y Sonor.
Además, tres oficinas de ventas pertenecen a la compañía: Hohner Inc. (Estados Unidos), Hohner SA (Francia) y Hohner-Sonor AG (Suiza). La participación de Hohner se completa con el Conservatorio Hohner en Trossingen y Hohner Lansheng Ltd, en Shanghai. Photos Trossingen 100 years. |

Competición y Festival Anual de la AAA, Memphis- EE.UUby Rob Howard

 La edición de este año del AAA Competition and Festival se llevará acabo en Memphis, Tennesee, del 15 al 19 de Julio. El lugar elegido será el Holiday Inn Suites, campus de la Universidad de Memphis, 3700 Central Ave., Memphis TN 38111.
Este festival y concurso incluye además talleres, conciertos y una feria de productos. Los artistas invitados a esta edición son Tony Lovello, Joey Miskulin and Riders in the Sky, joe Natoli, Mary Tokarski, Bruce Gassman y Jeff Lisenby and the Nashvegas Jazz Players.
El concurso incorpora las categorías `tribute to the King-Elvis Presley´, AAA Digital/Electronic International Entertainment Competition, International Piano Accordion Competition, Maddalena Belfiore Entertainment Competition for Female Accordionistis y la Vivian Vivio Spolaruk International Entertainment Competition. Además, se mantendrán las categorías organizadas en años precedentes.
La orquesta del festival 2009 será dirigida por Randy Martin, actuando en el Graceland a la hora del mediodía del viernes 17 de Julio.

Abre Museo de Acordeón, Melk-Austriaby Hermi Kaleta

 El 6 de Mayo de 1826, el constructor de órganos vienés Cyrill Demian, depositó la primera patente de acordeón. De origen Austriaco, el acordeón completó rápidamente su marcha triunfal a través del mundo, y ahora después de 180 años, prosigue su andadura enriqueciendo la música por todos los rincones del planeta.
Hannes Thanheiser, actor, músico y apasionado coleccionista, abrió el primer museo de acordeón en Austria el pasado 18 de junio en Sterngasse 19, Melk, Baja Austria. De esta manera, ofrece su extensa colección al alcance de todo el público.
En el museo existen todo tipo de acordeones curiosos y poco comunes desde 1869 a la actualidad. Además, conservan la colección de acordeones en miniatura más grande de Austria.
El horario de apertura del museo es de jueves a domingo de 10am a 6pm. |

Dean Warner’s First CD, Armagh - Irelandby Rob Howard

‘Northern Box’ is accordionist Dean Warner’s first solo CD, and is a splendidly performed collection of Irish dance music. He is joined on the recording by Ryan Molloy - piano, Michael Harrison - fiddle, Daire McGeown – banjo, and Fintan McManus - bouzouki.
Dean Warner, born in Leeds, England, a city steeped in a strong tradition of Irish traditional music, has been playing the piano accordion from the age of eight. It was through his association with Leeds Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann that he developed a deep passion for ‘the music’.
In 2001 Dean moved to Northern Ireland and now lives near Lurgan, County Armagh. He won the All Ireland Senior Piano Accordion title in Letterkenny (2005), and toured with Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann throughout Ireland (2006), Britain (2007), and the USA/Canada (2007).
He also performed at the Asturias Music Festival, Spain (2006), and the Shetland Accordion and Fiddle Festival (2008). Dean teaches, adjudicates, and is a regular figure at music sessions in Armagh and Tyrone.

World Music stage in “Exile”, Vienna – Austriaby Rainer Krispel

For 5 years Friedl Preisl has led the world music stage at the Danube Island Festival, and now this festival belongs to history due to the economic crisis – losing its sponsorship at a late stage, and with a program already organised long ago.
This is just one of many reasons why Friedl Preisl does not want to accept defeat, and with his world music scene shortly moving into "exile" without funds, has as an alternative organised two concerts at the Porgy & Bess, Vienna.
On June 27th, 9pm, the concert is titled ‘Girls, Girls, Girls’, with Özlem Bulut & Kehoha, Tiptons Sax Quartet & Drums, and Ljubinka Jokic & Yok. The concert on the 28th is ‘Klexmer and Roma Music’, featuring Klezmer Reloaded, The Other Europeans, Klezmer Music Project, Lautari Music Project, and the Amsterdam Klezmer Band.

Jean Louis Noton was invited on Sunday 21 June to the concert in Jouy (Eure-et-Loire). The first part was dedicated to the students of Brigitte Moreau, professor for piano, accordion and electric organ of the Association of l’Espace Musical de Jouy.
Many young talented future artists performing compositions for accordion and keyboard, individually and also together with the Orchestra of l’Espace Musical de Jouy.
Jean Louis Noton animated the second part of the concert performing also a piece together with the students. The morning after was dedicated in “exploring the digital accordion” which was a lot of fun for the young students. |

| Very popular French accordionist Eric Bouvelle has formed a new orchestra, and their first public appearance will be a dinner dance at the Salle Culturelle, Magny-Cours, on Saturday June 27th, 8pm. |

On July 4th, 7.30 pm, the Craven Accordion Orchestra is hosting an evening of accordion music. Also performing will be some of their NAO national and local champions.
There will be a special guest performance from Thom Hardaker (Rimsky Korsakov Conservatory, St. Petersburg).

 The 5th competition 'Concorso Carpineti in Musica’ takes place on July 18th and 19th in Carpineti, a comune (municipality) in the Province of Reggio Emilia in the Italian region Emilia-Romagna. The competition sections include Classical Accordion, Folk, and Variety, and organiser is Lorenzo Munari.

Accordion Night on Film Stage, Wiesbaden - Germanyby

There will be a light summer evening concert on Thursday, 2nd July at 8pm on the stage, Marktplatz 9, Wiesbaden.
The music presented will be "Musica Leggiera" showing accordion in various genres, from Bulgarian and South American folklore to the tango, jazz, dance music, all in the lighter style.

Last Night of the Proms - 2009 is a very popular annual two concert series featuring popular British music performed by the Auckland Symphony Orchestra conducted by Gary Daverne ONZM, the North Shore 100 Voice Chorale and Friends conducted by Peter Thomas and special guest celebritities. 
The New Zealand Accordion Association “invites people to support New Zealand young talented accordionists as they prepare to take on the worlds finest and compete for the Coupe Mondiale World Accordion Championship titles in August 2009!” The concert is on 10th July.
